Hi. I have a '23 OBX with stock wheels and stock tires. I have purchased a set of SAS takeoff good year 35s with the beauty rings and also a SAS takeoff suspension but I haven't installed either yet. This is all for aesthetic upgrades. While I may go off roading a few times, honestly my bronco will always be a mall crawler. So my question is has anyone done a similar upgrade and regretted it. I'm worried about on pavement ride quality, acceleration, handling, and just a little on increased ownership costs from decreased mpg and higher cost on tires.

For what it’s worth I own a ā€˜24 4 dr with Sasquatch package with the 2.3. I absolutely love it but I have rented two ā€˜25 broncos for a week each. One a big bend and one OBX. The first and biggest thing I noticed compared to mine was how quiet the tires were, how smooth and nimble they felt and I didn’t mind the 24mpg I got either. They truly handled and rode like a typical SUV.

My Bronco isn’t crazy loud but it does ride like a truck. I know 100% what it is and I knew 100% what to expect and it exceeded my expectations for a removable topped truck on 35s. Wouldn’t change a thing about it but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the ride of the non-Sasquatch broncos I rented.

If you’re just going for the look I’d look at different tires for a better road experience. Just my personal opinion.

Try the SAS suspension on both sets of wheels and choose from there. I'm very pleased with my OBX Hoss2 with 275-70-18 Destination X/T.

Oh boy, just ordered 17x9 wheels and 315/70s. I’m all pavement, but want the more rugged look. Weā€˜ll see shortly!

I do agree, my stock OBX non-SAS ride is so smooth with great acceleration and highway manners.

Considering the Hoss 3 suspension as well. Stock, Ford lift.

Do you have a rear locker?

I have a 23 black diamond I bought earlier this year. Mall crawler as well but I had the stocks on for 3 days before I found these wheels and tires to swap. IMO I can tell the extra weight is there bc my stocks were only 31.6ā€ but no where near as noticeable as I thought it would be.
I also have a set of SAS take offs I just picked up this week but haven’t installed it yet but what I’ve read on the differences between the ride, I should like it more.
You can fit those wheels And tires on it now by just removing the crash bars and won’t have any rubbing To get an idea of how you’ll like the added weight but also the look and If you do, changing the suspension should make it ride a little better.

Thanks for the suggestion. Somehow I hadn't really thought about putting the wheels on and deciding if I liked them and if no switching back. I had it in my head I would swap wheels and suspension all at once in kind of a no going back way.

I don't know how you were getting 24 mpg. I get 17mpg now with my smaller tires (I do have the 2.7l).

My feeling tends to be if you don't need bigger than 33, you probably shouldn't put them on. I'd do the suspension, but not sure I'd do the wheels.

Night and day difference. I don’t think any of the non-sas wheel options look good on any Bronco at all. I understand you will get better highway performance without the Sasquatch package, but the takeoffs make the vehicle look way more put together and not cheaply.

It’s like how people compare the full size Bronco to the sport. I look at broncs without larger tires and nicer wheels the same way.

For me it’s all in the takeoff from start. I go easy up to speed limit and I don’t have a need for speed, I get it’s a truck. Anyway on my 2.3 Sasquatch I’m happy with my mileage, around 21mpg but was stoked at the mpg on the bronco with smaller tires!

This is with the 35s on my truck.
