When it's all said and done, I am happy to not have my spare tire hanging off my door with those iffy hinges from Ford, but man this was a struggle that didn't need to be so rough. Granted, I'm looking at it through the lens of "Expedition One is over 2K in most places, this is half that. Half the price, half the quality 🤷🏽‍♂️". Just hope others are aware this is doable, it just takes patience and several trips to your hardware store to meet Turn in the middle. I did a brief speed bump test with the tire mounted and it's solid so far.
This is the other part of my dilema. I was originally going to go with the TOR HD tire carrier tailgate reinforcement and then purchase the tire and camera mount to go with it. That cost is around $200 less than the bumper w/carrier. I figured if I go the route of the bumper, I'm pretty much getting the the bumper $200 and I am taking the weight entireley off the tailgate. But with all these issues I am hesitant. I'm pretty handy, so I don't mind dealing with issues, having said that, I don't want a product that is half engineered in the feild. I already deal with that enough at work. LOL. Decisions, decisions.

TOR is supposed to have a BF sale, so I am waiting to pul the trigger either way for at least the week.

As presented, factory defects (case by case QC issue) + critical parts missing + ineffective video instructions, I would not buy this twice at full retail (~$1200). A Black Friday sale would heavily sway me though, as the only alternative of this exact style and look is Expedition One.

The more I'm splicing and chopping into the license plate line of my rear parking harness with zero luck, the less I'm recommending this bumper and any that require a license relocation bracket. Now I'll likely need a new rear sensor harness, as I've irreparably modified/damaged the license plate light connection point. Pissed is an understatement.

Why did you do that? Shouldn't you just connect the wires and done? Why would you keep cutting your harness/wires? Strip once, right?

I stripped once per section (at the license plate light on the bracket & at the Ford OEM plate light connector), and connecting in between with the supplied wire and crimp connectors. Worked for all of 2 minutes, then never again. I even swapped out the light bulb itself to make sure it wasn't defective. I tried the extra aftermarket plug piece with new connectors, and had no luck. Why they couldn't just include a tail light bypass harness, I'll never understand.

I'm putting everything on tomorrow. Bumper, carrier, bracket. I'll report back.

Update: After much back and forth, and wire testing, I figured out my issue. The parking harness male end on the left side of the bumper refused to seat properly into the connection point mounted to the rear quarter. Once I applied some wood working clamp pressure to it, it clicked in place and the license plate bracket light worked.

I still think they need to conjure up a passenger taillight bypass harness for stuff like this, and take the line away from the original light wire on the parking harness. It's a lot of wire to stretch out and finagle with otherwise.

Everything works smooth. Lots of adjustment, but it’s locked in.

Looks killer with Carbonized Gray! Tell me more about that reverse light coordination you've got going on with the supplied pod lights...not that I forgot to do anything with mine or anything 😅

Thanks! The lights are Rigid Dually lights. SPV parts makes a harness that allows you to connect to the reverse lights AND run a line from back there up to an Aux switch. Basically that means they come on when I'm in reverse, or I can flip on Aux 6 and all reverse lights come on even if I'm in drive. They can act as floods out back or chase lights in this way.

Here's what you need to make it happen...

Well, I pulled the trigger on the TOR bumper. I will use this thread to help with the install and hope it goes ok. Great feedback from everyone as always! Wishing you all a happy and safe thanksgiving weekend.

Received and installed the bumper today, carrier will have to be tomorrow since FedEx didnt deliver until the afternoon. What license plate bracket did y'all get? I see everyone else getting the style that mounts to the door, but I got the spare tire mount which is not what was advertised in all the promotional images. Disappointed because now I'll have to figure something else out for the plate..

I purchased their plate relocation solution at checkout.

Gotcha. I just assumed that it would come with the one photographed and not the tire mounted one. It wasn't explicitly stated which one I was supposed to get so I guess thats on me
