At what speed do you shift your manual Bronco into sixth?

is this based on the instantaneous gauge or have you calculated it somehow? Genuinely curious, I drive a lot of highway and hadn’t noticed this but I’ll watch more closely this week

I can vouch for @Tricky Mike. On a flat long stretch, go to your mpg screen and watch as you go from 5th to 6th and back. Also go to your boost gauge and see the difference there too! If your in boost, your using more fuel!

I'm in Florida so it's all flat. I'll shift into 6th on the interstate at 70-72 mph and my RPM's will be around 2000. Running 35's on a 2.3. Fuel mileage isn't a concern as it's not my daily.

With my Black Diamond, almost never - had to be flat terrain or was always in boost. With Badlands the gearing allows for more reasonable engine speed but even there if I need acceleration/power will drop to 5th.

Have been curious about efficiency. Presumed not good to draw boost long term.

Yes via the instant economy gauge, and over the course of a longer trip the fuel guage.

I wonder about the Sas Broncos with 35" tires and 4.7 diffs, that diff gear seems a bit tall for the 6th gear?

After running 33s, 35s, and 37s on 4.70, IMO yes it is, at least for the 4 pot. 6th was even borderline too tall with 4.70 and 33s IMO. Traditionally the 4 cyl version is often geared deeper than the V6 or V8. Ford missed the mark on that one. My long term plans are to go back to 35s permanently with whichever of the 5.13+ options I get the best deal on.

Cruise at 2500-2800 rpm. Stay out of boost. Whatever gear does that.

Lugging your engine under full boost is not a recipe for engine efficiency or long life.
