You know, not sure if my '22 will get this one, but I do get a clunk & thump sound in the rearward/cargo area frequently, that I can feel, when rolling to a stop and accelerating from a stop...might be related?
It's definitely a part with many synonyms:
My installer did follow the RSE guide in addition to heating the bolt to prevent stripping. I think unfortunately there was so much rust and corrosion on the bolt (originally a NY dwelling vehicle before my ownership), as well as it potentially being...
Hey all,
I recently purchased a set of Rockslide Engineering Step Sliders for my 4 door Bronco. Unfortunately, due to some notable rust & corrosion within the frame outside my reach, the rear passenger side body mount bolt snapped almost completely in half. I'm now in the position where the...
I could've sworn there was a moon roof panel on the way (demoed at SEMA '25), which seems to be the most reliable way to deal with the targa panel. Just haven't seen or heard much since then. I was shocked that the fiberglass hood made it to the website first.
That thing is beautiful! It's a shame APG stopped selling their suspension hardware online, would've loved to build a Midrunner and work my way up to something this beefy.
I'm definitely trying to work the problem backwards, leading up to a full disassembly, as the last resort, as much as possible. The other annoying thing about the design of the swing arm is the allen bolts securing the decorative dust cap are so soft. So might be the second to last time I get to...
Got another mystery to try and solve gang: a consistent, metal on metal groan/creak. Naturally only happens when there's force applied against the bumper & door (outward force). What I've done so far is tightened the mounting bolts underneath and added the extended bump stops to solidify any...
Luckily for me, I think the missing extended bump stops were what was allowing some play between the distance of the door and the swing arm when driving over bumpy roads. Adding those bump stops essentially made those connection points taut and there's zero play in the swing arm or the heim...
Followed this advice, in addition to the new bump stops. Not only did it completely eliminate the heim joints rattle I was experiencing, along with the license plate clearance issue, but also somehow the tailgate is aligned noticeably more level along the opening side. So far, the only "gripe"...
The heim joints continue to be a game of squeak/rattle and tweak for me (I pretty much expected the consistent adjustments to be a thing in the first year of ownership), but I still have to change my bump stops to the extended pieces Turn's supplier forgot to include, and readjust the stopping...
+1 perpetual metal on metal creak/squeak coming from the swing mount side of the bumper with every tail gate opening and rearward force exertion, that isn't present on the driver's side.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'm trying to steer this love/hate relationship with this bumper system in the right direction, it just takes a Bronco village to get it where it needs to be.
I didn't receive any additional bump stops with mine to add or modify the stop distance (adds credibility to the early launch theory), but it definitely looks like I have more material than yours:
How's the tailgate mounted license plate clearance between the light and the lower rectangular swing gate arm at close for you folks? I find my light is making slight contact and rubbing a bit as a result. I imagine prolonged road vibration won't be a good thing.
