It is mounted vertically on the passenger side of the spare. The bracket is mounted off center as to allow clearance between the boards and rear bumper.
I don’t have any flexing issue. The mounting bracket takes care of any flex.
Whenever I install mine, I fold the extra strap up inside the ratchet and then lock that closed with duct traps ( the big ones for driveshafts). I know it won’t really stop anyone from stealing, but at least they’ll...
If I put the key in the little storage compartment in front of the shifter, it won’t start, pick them up and hold them, works fine. Throw them back and works fine, then get to a red light, starts honking. Does this with both keys. I’m assuming the airbag is due to the door ajar issue.
Weather finally got nice in the NE today so decided to take the top/doors off this morning. Been driving prior to today with zero issues. Now I have airbag lights, door ajar warning (2dr) and no key detected warnings. I can’t keep driving it and having it double honk 3-4 times at a red light...
I went out and looked and took some measurements yesterday. I really thought there were 4 nutserts in the 2dr, but no, as you state, only 2. Using a cardboard template of my Maxtrax, I don't see any way for that setup to work without blocking most of the rearward visibility. Oh well, it was...
I finished it up this weekend. The backing bracket made the grille install a snap and bolt in project. I also held the LED's in with a small amount of silicone. I would also love to see how the factory does it.
As for the wiring, I hooked mine up in parallel with the fog lights i added on Aux...
I have, and there is nothing to hold them. May want to ask if there’s any hardware to hold them. I’m gonna call them tomorrow and ask as well. Parts should be in, I ordered the plate on Monday and picked up this afternoon.
OP, Did you ever get the back plate? I’m doing the same thing, but can’t seem to figure out what holds the 3 led’s in place. They sit on the pins, but there’s nothing to hold them in place.
No worries. I honestly would have went that route if not for the access to the rear tire. Getting a hand me down Rock Slide setup also helped. This wouldn't be the most economical solution had I had to purchase everything. But for the limited use, day trips, this works really well for me...
