UPDATE:
The dealership replaced the steering rack. After inspecting the damage, they determined that the Ford Performance skid plate bracket is a piece of shit and snapped off the frame rail and was thrown into the steering rack. (given)
I reached out to Ford Performance before I got the...
they'll have a bit more on-road harness since it's a digressively valved IBP shock, where the hitatchi is a progressively valved monotube. but offroad on big hits they'll soak it up.
hoss 3.0 takeoffs are better than any shock you'll get for less than 5k, unless you absolutely need the lift to clear a 37. only thing that's gonna party harder is an 8112 or a 3.2 live valve.
the IBP's in the HOSS 3.0 really start to feel "magic" around 50mph over whoops and washboard, otherwise they feel pretty much the same as the bilsteins.
IMO:
if you're just wheeling it's not worth the upgrade, there's little to no difference on low speed stuff, and road manners were negligible too.
BUT, if you're going to go to the dunes, or do high-speed offroad stuff it's night and day from HOSS 2.0. totally different ball game.
