Yeah the main thing I don't like is how easily they lose chunks. I'm considering some Geolandar AT4 255/75r17 SL tires as my next ones. They are SL rated instead of C but from everything I'm seeing they are actually a more robust tire with a higher real load rating than the grabbers.
I've had my 265/70r17 General Grabber ATx tires on my BD 2door for over 72k miles now. In that time I have mostly commuted but also gone on 3 cross country trips towing a 1300lb trailer totaling about 18-20k of those miles.
The tires are wearing super evenly and look like they could easily go...
What drivetrain do you have? Also did you notice a large reduction in mpg? I am considering going this route on my BD 2door with 2.7 but am worried itll greatly reduce my mileage. Also did you notice any issue with on road handling, especially acceleration and cornering grip?
Did you input the new tire size into the vehicles memory? If you don't, the computer still thinks you are driving on the smaller tire and your reported mpg and speed will not be accurate.
Yeah, and that's with two long west trips with lots of service roads and off-road towing a trailer. Probably 18k total miles of towing. They are starting to cup now but I could honestly keep running them for a long while.
I just did it myself. It's quite easy. There is some concern that it might impact your power train warranty if you do it yourself, but I was almost over warranty anyway so I went for it and saved a thousand bucks.
That's very interesting, thank you. I have had issues occasionally where I am pulling out onto a road from a stop and the vehicle will pause acceleration for a second before continuing to accelerate. I always thought it was a "searching for a gear " issue, but this seems inline with a bad DPFE...
I wonder if degraded transmission fluid might exacerbate the issue? I haven't changed the fluid yet.
What is the clearance issue? I haven't heard of this.
Black diamond 2door with 10 speed and 65k miles. Transmission shifting has been terrible. Issues include; clunking when shifting into first coming to a stop, clunking when at low speed letting up on gas and then going back on it, rough shifts from 1-2 and 2-1, harsh or delayed shifts, and...
