Greetings fellow Michiganders. I have been thinking about doing a winter trail ride up near Camp Grayling the end of January. Just wondering if anyone has any interest in doing it. Not sure what everyones plans are for that time frame. Personally the wife and I are headed to Florida in the middle of January and will be back near the end of the month. So this may get pushed to the first part of February.

Like I said, just gauging interest at this point. Nothing is certain.

I might be down. I'll be in the Cadillac area around that time for work, so I could figure something out on the 29th or 4th.

Interested for sure, but will depend on our family schedule...

I am interested, but the timing will matter for me, as I will be doing the Snowfest event at Holly Oaks the 21st. I am sure you can get a pretty good group regardless. Depending on snow depth Grayling could be really good or really tough! There should be some good two tracks to run, but make sure whatever route you plan avoids groomed snowmobile trails, they are closed when groomed from Dec. 1 through sometime in March I think. You can see all the open trials and toggle the different categories here- https://midnr.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=1710727ba3ec4c64928110fdb4f7799d

This is a clip with the Snowmobile routes highlighted as an example (for anyone that hasn't used the site)-

I just saw you are from Grayling, so you probably know the routes, even better! It's nice to have local intel for sure, now I am even more excited to go, hopefully it goes into February and I am free!

I'm interested, looking forward to getting out for some snow rides!

I was out there yesterday and the snow was perfect. They are doing some logging off Military road. The truck traffic has the main road clear. Headed back out tomorrow morning. This warmer weather is going to make the snow pack different.

Matt the map you posted doesnt cover the area i was thinking about. Was looking to be south of Lake Margarethe.

That was just a snip, the map can cover any area. I’m definitely interested in doing some more exploring! Do you have Gaia? You can record and share your routes with others (club members 😀) too.

I just startex using Gaia. I have started mapping out trails south of the base. Havent figured out how to share them yet.

Was out yesterday and got the bronco stuck for the first time. Was out exploring and completely unprepared. No shovels..no traction boards...not even a coat.
Was exploring trails i had been on previously but the warm weather changed the snow completely. Hit a drift and buried it.
Had to make the call of shame to my wife and have her bring the strap and her truck.
Walked out to the main road and met her, then we drove back in to pull out the bronco. It will be a long time before i hear the end of that....lol
No harm done to either vehicle...pride is a different story....lol

I am headed to my cabin in Tawas tomorrow (I think). I am trying to decide if I should bring the Bronco. I assume everything is melted?
Zixer37
Yeah most stuff has melted away

I’m up here now, no snow, feels like spring 😮 I’m curious how the trails look after all the storms. Depending on how some projects go, I may go mess around in the woods for a while tomorrow.
