Hey everyone! I can't find a good answer, but I'm looking to put 285/75R16's on my 4DR base. It seems no one is really having issues with the rim size being half an inch too small, so that's good, but my main question is the gearing. I have an auto with the 3.73 gearing. If I put bigger tires on will I regret it?

It’s fine. Many here with the 3.73 gearing and 33s.

You will lose a lot of MPG but it will otherwise be fine

@BudgetBronco any issues driving at highway speeds? Does the psi need to be at a certain level?

@OctagonODG No issues at all. I run mine at about 35 psi. But I think anywhere between 30 and 40 will work. Lower psi will give you a little more cushion over bumps and potholes and such when on the highway, but worse MPG. Higher psi the opposite, better MPG but you will feel the bumps a little more.

I have a base w 33s and am getting 20mpg in my first week. 3.73, 4.3, auto trans, 2 door.

I'm currently running:
Mickey Thompson 285/70R17 (33.25-.5")
American Racing 17x8" Outlaws +18 offset.
They're bigger than I thought, but I wanted big and one can feel the increased friction. My dealer joked, he doesn't have to break much with his 37's (they're so big, they slow truck down due to size) on his F150, and he gets 10mpg which is nuts.

In a perfect world, I'd go to tire place and actually be able to try various tires and rims. Choices in style, ride quality, mileage/performance differences. That's not an option for me.

I will be buying another tire/rim set for trips that don't require such a heavy duty (imo) setup. I could powder coat my factory steelies and mount them on 33's like @BudgetBronco did. I think his setup looks nice.
