We took our FE down there for Thanksgiving...camped at Thorndike CG, we ran several trails during our stay, and as an experiment only aired down the last two days. We did the trails in this order: Marble/Cottonwood Canyons (outside of Stovepipe Wells, tip...the road in for the first several miles is all sand, perfect for Baja Mode!! We hit 50mph in stretches). Next was Chloride City, a fun trail with some good pitches and rock gardens to pick though. Then we did the Swansea-Cerro Gordo, this was the first trail we did aired down, to about 25. The last day on the way out we did the Movie Road/Alabama Hills area, not a challenging area, but fun to let Baja or Sport mode loose!

In the short amount of time we had, we didn't get to half of what we planned....still want to go to Titus Canyon, the Racetrack, etc.....

You gonna have fun!!

that sounds like a great trip, have fun! Haven't been there in a very long time, no clue about trails, so gonna keep an eye on this thread. I want to visit Cerro Gordo (watching that guy/owner on youtube) and explore some of the abandoned mines. Let us know how it went!

@Boston182, Over Thanksgiving I went to Joshua Tree with my F150, I used a set of automatic tire deflators set at 25psi (42068 Automatic Tire Deflators, Set of 4) and took a pressure gauge as back up (42066 Deflator with Analog Pressure Gauge) as a back up. During the Las Vegas Off-Rodeo event they had their Broncos set to 20psi non-bead lock rims. I would keep your psi in that range.

To air up I used a Kobalt 120v & 12v Portable Air Compressor I got at Lowes. The air compressor worked, just took about an hour to fill tires back up. I do plan to get a quality air compressor and build a four tire inflation tool for future trips. The Kobalt compressor is low cost and I used it in the past for my motorhome and could get about 80psi no problem. It's just slow. I recommend the product protection, I have used it 3 times now.

Airing down should be done on all off-highway roads, primarily for comfort. Other benefits, improved shock absorption and traction. Once you hit the road air back up.

I'm still new at Gaia, but here is roughly the trip we took back in December. Lmk if you can view this.
*Edit* nevermind, didn't work. I'll figure out how to export it for you.

Since you’re gonna be in Southern California you might want to check out King of the Hammers or Bronco Knoll in Johnson Valley.
