What’s up guys! And girls obviously. I’m going to be at Windrock the last weekend in February and I’m looking for people that know their way around. We will arrive on Friday morning around 11 AM and leave Sunday probably before noon. Let’s party!

**** Welp, guys. I have to cancel this, unfortunately. I found out yesterday my mom passed away unexpectedly. I'll try to get out there this spring, maybe for @Valhalla's ride above. Sorry to anyone who was planning to join along ****

I am out of the country that week or I would be in.

Hey guys! Confirmed heading up there from Charlotte with a Wrangler and possibly a LC250. We will get there around 2 on Friday Feb 27 and head back the 1st. Looking at 22, 26, 51, 11 and whatever else you guys might think would be fun. Hope to see you out there! 🤘🏼

Starting to think about the plan out there. Do you guys have any good advice on absolute must-do's while out there...from eating, bars, beers, gun ranges...can someone school me on a plan for 2 days? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

How is the group setup and what level of challenge do you want?
Hummell
Hummell
Well, looks like there will only be 2 of us. I'm in a Wildtrak and my friend will be in a Wrangler with no lockers, lifted on 37s. We typically run 6/7 out of 10 rated difficulty trails OnX...and we need to drive home back to Charlotte. So, I'd say moderately challenging? Not very helpful, I know.

I'm going to try to make this. Got room for another if the boss lady lets me out for the weekend? BB Sas.

@Valhalla looking at your OnX Yule Tide ride from December and your Moderate run from January. Which one would you recommend for someone who's never been out there before?
Valhalla
Valhalla
The moderate ride was fun, that section on 82 is winch down or gas it to not roll. We had to drag mine forward from belly rub.
Hummell
Hummell
@Valhalla Yikes. I don't have a winch in the rear. Wonder if I can put my XLock to work and belay it down that section...no option to go around, I assume...
Valhalla
Valhalla
@Hummell No, but we turned around and went back the first two times we went there. There is room near the drop to turn around. There is a gate keeper that is pretty challenging before that. it is definitely a try twice winch area.
Hummell

@Valhalla It looks to me like the way to run 82 is to head up the ledge and then down that gate keeper you were mentioning. That ledge looks a lot harrier going down and I don't mind pulling myself up from there...of course, you can't ever really know until you're sitting there staring at it - but if I had my choice right now, I'm running that thing west to east.

@Valhalla I'm looking at both of your Yellow and Red Dashed/Dotted routes. Fall Fell 2025, and Yuletide run (2023). I also have your 2025 Yule Tide Run route pulled up...seems like a bit of a hike to get out there where the action starts.

I also have your Ladies Spring Fling route.

I suggest going in Braden flats (pavement), do G66 to 51 (panther rock) go up the hill and finish 51, L on G50 cross road and you are on G1, R on 11, L on 8 R on G1. R on G9 (the overlook) L on G2 R on 4, L on G20,R on G2/G37 straight on 83 (look at 82) L on G6R on 27... leads to an out or back in on 26. L on 41 L on G6 .. Can R on 5 to 22 out OR R on G39 R on g2 L on G20 L on G1 R on 2 to parking lot. That is a long day.

@Hummell getting out to Braden flats is not that bad yes its about 25 min, still a whole lot quicker than going through the park route lol

@Valhalla I just followed this all the way through OnX 3D. Looks like an awesome day! Thank you for putting that together! At the end, 23 actually cuts south off of 22 about halfway through. 23 terminates about in the backyard of where we're staying.

@vrtical sounds like a plan. We're going to go with @Valhalla's route above and maybe use 74>67 to 66 and onto 51. Just not sure how much time that adds.
Valhalla
Valhalla
Alternative start would be to go up to a left on 74 to pick up G67 to G66, also to spice it up you could go in on 29/28 g18 to G1.... 30 is a ton of fun but hard with one good chance of rubbing paint on rock and 1 good paint on tree,

@Valhalla I like that 74 > G67. Probably makes the day a little longer, right? I do kind of like the idea of it to get the feel/warm up for 51.
Valhalla
Valhalla
74 was fairly tame last run, G67 is high speed. A good warm up would be 28/29 would be a great warm up to 51, but you gotta figure your route.
Valhalla
Valhalla
Seat time would be a full day 8/10 hours.

@Valhalla thank you, sir. We'll probably look to cut that to 6 somehow. I really, really appreciate your guidance brother. Hope to see you out there to shake your hand and have a day together.

I wish I could come! I'd skip to G66 and then look at the possible outs I listed to bring time down.

@Valhalla will do. Thanks again! Really looking forward to the trip. Oh - if something breaks and I can't fix it on the trail, who's the best in the area to call or get this thing to so I can get back to Charlotte quick?
Valhalla
Valhalla
Call Rob (he is in the group) he lives 10 minutes outside the park. Call me, 662-574-7615.

@vrtical Thank you, vrtical. I'm a part of that group, so I'll also use them as a resource (hopefully don't have that problem, obviously).

Be smart, 3 tries then hang it up, most of my breaks happen after that 3rd. There was that one axle on waldens ridge, but that was after using turn breaks.

Sorry to hear that brother. A lot of that going around. Be sure to take the time necessary. Trail therapy is real, just be sure to not go out there angry.
