Hey all I thought I pass along my rod holder idea for any other anglers looking for cheap easy rod holder. This will work with a fly rod or a small to med sized spinning rod. Ever since I saw the Bronco OBX fishing rod holder concept I wanted to add this. There currently isn't one available so this is what I came up with on my own. Links below for all the parts I used. There are a bunch of other RAM mount rod holders I just happened to like this one the most for my needs and its a little lower profile.
Disclaimer: Its not a theft-proof solution more just a transport solution. Fishing in WNC sometimes you're in and out of your truck a few times a day moving from location to location. This is why I decided to add this to make it quick and easy to transport and so I didn't have to break my rod down each time I moved or worry about it getting broken accidently. After putting the rod in the holder I also added a couple mini-bungies around the rod and mount to keep it from moving up and down.. I have tested this at highway speeds.
It's solid AF, can be completely removed in less than 3 min, and doesn't affect the operation of opening the hood.
