Yes, that is a bit much for doing what amounts to a PDI.
When I have to get a customer’s truck PDI’d by the local dealer before we direct ship to a body company they bill me $115.00 FWIW

Pay the fee and then once you’ve taken title crush them on the Ford survey. It won’t get your money back but you’ll know you will have likely cost them more than they made in lost Ford incentives.

I'd let them know beforehand that this was not expected and that you have been completely satisfied with their service up till now and that you are not happy to be surprised and that it will be a factor when filling out the Ford Survey. They can however make a happy customer out of you by not charging that. If they end up charging it anyway give them a bad review and follow through.

Just seems like they are twitching to find a way to not sell it to him and if he rattles the cage too much theyre just going to figure out a way to cancel it. Especially if he threatens beforehand to do a bad survey. He can’t do a bad survey if they haven’t sold him a car and that alone might motivate them to suddenly add the ADM to scare him away.

Well the sales rep did say management wants me to not buy it so they can sell for 10k over MSRP. I can’t wait for the dealership model to die and it become direct to consumer like Tesla.

I have trust in my dealer and they are selling for MSRP and there are rules about selling above MSRP to reservation holders lets see your paper work now and after sale is complete
If there are rules about selling above MSRP to reservation holders then please provide a link or documentation. That would be a tremendous help to many here on the forum and people would be forever grateful.

Glad you found a dealer you can trust as, unfortunately, many have not However, I am not sure what that has to do with my "paperwork."

Sometimes that's what they call their PDI inspection. Basically checking all the fluids, removing the plastic and any safety checks. Tell them to remove it because they are required to do them from Ford and it should only take them 30 mins to do it.

This is such BS. I hope Ford reads this and realizes that the pre-order system does not work for them. The pre-order system only works when you don't have a dealership network.

So with my build week finally in hand I asked my dealer to produce a purchase order for me. This is the issue I ran across and for those that have already bought their Bronco I'd love to hear your feed back. Everything checked out except one thing. The dealer added $893 to the MSRP for "Dealer Prep Fee". This sounds like a bogus fee that is another way of just saying ADM.

Sales Rep has been really nice through the whole process and was pretty honest with me. He said, "If you dont take it, and management honestly doesnt want you to cause they will add 10k for ADM."

Figured I'm sorta stuck with the extra $893...
I suspect as the others - its their "Document Fee" - some states have regulations and caps on these fees - some can charge you whatever they want. This link has all the states and their rules: https://www.compare.com/auto-insurance/coverage/vehicle-costs

Can I ask who your dealer is? Mine is Galpin
While I can't say how Galpin operates with vehicle orders; how they operate with vehicles on their lot is can be nightmarish. They mix and match parts from various vehicles on their lot to create "customized" vehicles which can't be found for an apples to apples comparison on any other Ford lot (therefore, they aren't willing to deal). Hopefully you won't find a similar scenario when you take delivery of your Bronco.

Oh wow - super interesting. This will be the third vehicle we've gotten from the Galpin dealerships (one Mazda, and one previous Ford) and I seem to have a very good relationship with my salesperson. I do hope that there won't be any issues come delivery!

All of these posts are making me nervous about getting hit with adm. if I haven’t gotten a build date and the dealership is not willing to sign something to the effect of no adm. I could just 99 my order? At least if I can’t get it neither can they?

I think a lot of us are going to get that fee when the paperwork is all drawn up, the dealer tells everyone it's gonna be MSRP or in some cases below when you talk to them but unless you have a sales contract completely filled out at time of sale you are not gonna see the bottom line and that is when the dealer prep, admin fees, doc fees and taxes will all show up. it is the first year of a new model and all the dealers are hurting right now, I don't care what kind of business you are in everybody works to make a profit, I agree with all your feelings about added fees but over the years I have bought many vehicles and the negotiation on a new model, the pandemic and of course all the other problems in our country right now are making every thing cost more no matter what you are buying so I say try to negotiate but be happy that you are able to get a Bronco.
Worst case scenario, we can sell our broncos for

Flipside--we should be able to sell our in high demand Broncos as a private owner for at least what we pay for them if the dealers are adding 10k premiums.
