Levine stated on twitter that they have a plan for storage and such.
Read the blow and tell me if it sounds like a “plan”. I’ll bet money that if we get consistent video updates we will see that not a single Bronco moves. The only ‘move’ will be when they put the new top on it.

I'd love to be wrong but I think his comment about moving the Broncos is what has already happened (and shown in that dirt lot video).

Really helpful to read the actual letter and/or listen to the livestream from yesterday, because a lot of the stress in this thread is misplaced. Per both:

- The Broncos built and waiting at MAP will get the new roofs first, then be shipped out in the order in which they were built. So 6/29 -6/30 Broncos seem like they'll get the very first roofs and be shipped out accordingly. That sounds like it'll start in late September and run through October. They specially said on the livestream that they cannot start producing new units until the backlog is clear.

-Once the Broncos in MAP are taken care, they're going to start sending replacement kits to already delivered Broncos. That's expected to start in October.

- Simultaneously with the delivery of replacement kits, they're going to start producing new Broncos with hardtops, subject to other constraints, for people with currently assigned VINs and build dates. I don't think they can focus JUST on FEs during that run, as, again, they'll be subject to build constraints. Once Webasto is up and running and sending several hundred roofs a day, they're not going to NOT build a base or a big bend if they have the parts for those and not all the parts for the FE.

- They will not send the MICs currently waiting because they don't want incur the cost of shipping them all out, and it will likely be faster to withhold the Broncos and then ship them with the new roofs than it would be to ship the bad roofs and replace them with new roofs. There's also (unstated) questions of legal liability (both to customers and Webasto) if they knowingly send out roofs to people that they have admitted are defective. Speaking as a lawyer, I would be just WAITING for a car accident if they sent those out.

- Many, many people on this site in the industry have stated that "lot rot" isn't a thing, and I imagine the process by which they'll install the roof will also require additional checks. Ford has indicated they have a plan for storage like every other car. I don't relish the idea of this car sitting out in the Michigan winter, but I have to imagine that they would prioritize manufacturing of a replacement if it was damaged so bad that they didn't feel like they could sell it to me.

For the last 6 weeks, we've been jumping up and down about how this would be so much better if we "just knew what was happening" or "just knew the plan". NOW WE KNOW. THIS IS THE PLAN. It's not ideal, but it's a plan, and ultimately, once we've had this things for a year, I think we'll all probably agree that waiting a few extra months for a good product wasn't all that bad.

I guess that depends on how Ford defines "Cosmetic" vs "functional". They clearly have definitions for both of those terms considering they were used in the official comms. I have no idea, I'd be happy taking delivery and waving Ford and the dealership from Liability to replace predicated on the idea that the issue is strictly cosmetic, according to them. But I'm not a lawyer so this is a pipe dream.

only thing I need to correct is that the delivered Broncos will get the first tops, THEN the ones sitting at MAP, THEN they will build the remaining FE’s.
No, this is not correct. This was specifically stated on the livestream, from @Nickp, and it's stated that built Broncos at MAP will get updates starting in September, while everyone else gets notified in October. Delivered Broncos are second in priority to Broncos already delivered.

If the existing MIC tops were such a liability that they can't send out the #badbatchBroncos for fear of litigation then they should recall every Bronco with a hardtop they already delivered as those are just as large a liability.

I mean I'm not an attorney, I'm a doctor, so the above may be as incorrect as saying the covid vaccine doesn't work. So take it for what it is worth.

I have as much insight into this as you do; we're operating off the same set of facts. It looks like they intend to move them - it is in their interest to ensure these things don't get eaten up by mice and rats.

Yep, maybe you’re just more trusting than I am…

This thread is filled with misinformation.

For what’s actually going on, watch the livestream from yesterday.

I was cringing when reading this thread. Voice of reason!!!

Thank you for taking the time to correct the misinformation in this thread. I was dreading have to type all of that out.

. . . color me a pessimist but this is my thought

Supplier states newly designed hardtops first available in October. PremierDrum here states the plant is not expecting them till November. If Ford communicates I expect the following in late October . . .

"we're ready to get you into the Wild but want to ensure you get the best product possible. Design and refinement of the new MIC hardtop roof is coming along and we fully expect production to begin by late November early December"

Now, just like with any production line the new and improved MIC hardtops are NOT going to be flying off the line initially. They'll be doing painstaking QC work and it'll take weeks to months to ramp up to full production.
Meanwhile Ford HAS to get the FE's built. EVERY roof available will fill that need first. How many weeks of roof production will that eat up? 2,3,6, more?

Only once the FE's are all built and QC'd will Ford start to fix the already built MIC hardtops. I'm beyond puzzled why they'd fix MIC Hardtops ON PEOPLE THAT ALREADY HAVE THEIR BRONCO before getting the #badbatchBroncos out! But that's what they are going to do. So how many thousands of MIC hardtops have shipped? 3-4K? More? So now that eats up how many weeks of new MIC hardtop production from the supplier? Several at least many at worst.

Now, let's not forget Thanksgiving plant shutdowns . . . Christmas and New Years plant shutdowns.

So now we're probably going to be well into calendar year 2022 before the first new MIC hardtop roof is put on any #badbatchBronco. Add on two weeks shipping and I feel the absolute earliest a bad batch hits a customer driveway is late January and that may well prove to be optimistic. Most of us probably see ours in Feb-March.

I'd feel MUCH better if they committed ensuring ALL MY '21's are ready to go before putting an MIC hardtop on the first MY '22 Bronco.

I could be wrong. The painfully obvious rate limiting step is the productivity of the new supplier to get the new MIC hardtop built. I think everyone here can understand the pessimism that such productivity will be on time, will ramp up quickly, and that large numbers of MIC hardtops will be shipped to MAP anytime soon.
This post will age well.

Don't think it has anything to do with the MIC number in the top left corner. The window stickers shared here are all over the map (and are in some cases higher than mine), and mine was built just last week: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/post-your-2021-bronco-window-stickers-customer-build-productions-begins-on-14th-🪟.17560/page-1
Yes, but this shows your Blend date as 6/16/21. The MIC number seems to be sequential with whatever your blend date is. IDK
