. . . color me a pessimist but this is my thought
Supplier states newly designed hardtops first available in October. PremierDrum here states the plant is not expecting them till November. If Ford communicates I expect the following in late October . . .
"we're ready to get you into the Wild but want to ensure you get the best product possible. Design and refinement of the new MIC hardtop roof is coming along and we fully expect production to begin by late November early December"
Now, just like with any production line the new and improved MIC hardtops are NOT going to be flying off the line initially. They'll be doing painstaking QC work and it'll take weeks to months to ramp up to full production.
Meanwhile Ford HAS to get the FE's built. EVERY roof available will fill that need first. How many weeks of roof production will that eat up? 2,3,6, more?
Only once the FE's are all built and QC'd will Ford start to fix the already built MIC hardtops. I'm beyond puzzled why they'd fix MIC Hardtops ON PEOPLE THAT ALREADY HAVE THEIR BRONCO before getting the #badbatchBroncos out! But that's what they are going to do. So how many thousands of MIC hardtops have shipped? 3-4K? More? So now that eats up how many weeks of new MIC hardtop production from the supplier? Several at least many at worst.
Now, let's not forget Thanksgiving plant shutdowns . . . Christmas and New Years plant shutdowns.
So now we're probably going to be well into calendar year 2022 before the first new MIC hardtop roof is put on any #badbatchBronco. Add on two weeks shipping and I feel the absolute earliest a bad batch hits a customer driveway is late January and that may well prove to be optimistic. Most of us probably see ours in Feb-March.
I'd feel MUCH better if they committed ensuring ALL MY '21's are ready to go before putting an MIC hardtop on the first MY '22 Bronco.
I could be wrong. The painfully obvious rate limiting step is the productivity of the new supplier to get the new MIC hardtop built. I think everyone here can understand the pessimism that such productivity will be on time, will ramp up quickly, and that large numbers of MIC hardtops will be shipped to MAP anytime soon.
