What is the realistic worst case scenario?

The chip shortage is a much bigger issue than the tops. Show me links to other car manufacturers where they are communicating any better with customers. Heck, for that matter, show me any industry (Vehicles, TV’s, computers…) communicating with their customers.

No problem. I have had a Porsche GT3 on order since April. They gave me production milestones within an hour of me placing my order and this is a car that only about 3000 will ever be made. It's no issue. They communicate effectively, accurately and timely. No excuses and yes it is a new model for them. Unlike Ford, they tested it for three years before announcement and were ready to go the day of the reveal. Ford is just F'd up beyond all comprehension. They are led by incompetent numb skulls and their poor performance is tolerated by the masses which perpetuates and condones their incompetence. (and just an FYI - the dealer delivery milestone below is normally scheduled too......I am just picking mine up from the factory in Zuffenhausen so that milestone is blank)

Ford’s obviously not going to drop the whole Bronco project. But seeing as everything is going wrong, what is the worst possible scenario that’s going on/going to happen?

I think @Ford Motor Company should:

1. Continue to milk out Broncos as they can.
2. Hold a live Q&A with res holders and be brutally honest.
3. Adjust any non-FE builds to MY22 if they have a built date later than 30 September.
4. Immediately release the new options that WILL be available for MY22.
5. Lock down the build and price tool for MY21 and convert it to MY22 with those new options reflected.
6. Release a list of in-house improvements that have been made to the Bronco since production (this lets people know that every push back is resulting in an improved Bronco for those waiting)
7. Open dealer selection and change orders for waiting res holders.
8. Sell direct from Ford MAP, the Broncos that can be built but may not fully match a build. Let res holders see an online inventory that they can buy at MSRP. We would forfeit our res to to buy.
9. Release Ford points to res holders now! Can use for a Ford we own, can use to buy a different Ford, or can hold on to for when we get our Broncos.
10. Now this is important so pay attention @Ford Motor Company... send all remaining reservation holders a

One of 3000 compared to several hundred thousand? C’mon, man! You sound intelligent yet you cant see a difference? For a matter of reference, more Broncos have been sold this year than all of Porche’s line combined for 2021!! I guess Ford‘s incompetent numb skulls are doing something right? Maybe?

I obviously have no idea what Ford will decide to do in the end. I said that simply because Big Bend is the least ordered trim and Ford (and every other vehicle manufacturer for that matter) have been known to cut options/choices that are unpopular, cost too much money to produce, or don’t have a high enough profit margin.

Ford is always adjusting pricing/trims/packages to get the maximum number of sales and profit. There have been several times in the past where Ford has released a package or option that they think will be super popular, but turns out to be a dud. The SuperDuty Tremor package, for example… everyone my dad (retired Ford employee) used to work with said they expected it to be a very popular package. But turns out it wasn’t so they removed it from the lineup this past year.

As someone who greatly prefers to drive a manual transmission, I can understand where you’re coming from. Much like what you said regarding V6 and V8 engines…. without manual transmissions we wouldn’t have automatic transmissions. Yet out of the 15+ vehicles Ford sells, Ford only offers two of them with a manual transmission as an option.

Heck—not everyone needs an SUV or Truck… some people just need a small car to get back and forth to work. Yet this past year Ford canceled all of their cars and the only one left remaining is a sports car.

Very well said, Bryan. Let me apologize for my earlier rant. I feel like a knucklehead, now. I think this long delay in delivery of this addition to the lineup has finally gotten to me. A shot or two of the good Tequila and I'll be good as new.

I think we are living the "worst case scenario".

Broncos keep trickling out for the next 2 years and not until 2023/2024 do they become the mass produced vehicle they are meant to be.

When I put in my reservation on July 14th, 2020, I was worried my Bronco would be built while I was on vacation in July 2021 and couldn't get it until I returned. Now, I'm hopeful I will get mine in November - but expecting to be a 2022 in February.

This doesn't really get any worse than that - endless waiting.

I don’t get #3. Artificially rolling non-FEs to MY ‘22 doesn’t fix the MIC top quality and quantity constraint problem. If they have more MICs than FEs, why not build more ‘21s?

We think they are at a point where it is obvious the Webasto MICs will barely be able to fill FE and existing quality quarantined rigs. If that is true, Ford should tell us as much, what they can do for the rest of ‘21, and what they are going to do in the midterm, and long term to actually get enough quality tops someday.

I too agree that at this point they should announce ‘22 options, improvements, and colors so we can self select out of ‘21.

I think the biggest thing hold people back from more soft top orders are:
a) two doors and WTs can’t, and
b) the cost of a MIC or Mod top two years from now, should be guaranteed at the incremental dual top cost of $1795 and $2495 including shipping (and paint).

If they did this, and then basically said: “for the rest of ‘21 and into x quarter of 2022 we will build virtually only soft tops. If there is a buildable customer order soft top, great / 1st priority. If not, we’ll build the very few MICs as we get them, and we have no choice but the rest will be dealer stock.” at least we’d all know our choices and how things really stand.

Worst case? I hate to sound selfish, but there is honestly a chance they won’t get all the FE’s out in 2021.

This entire thing though has been a perfect storm. Plus, if it wasn’t the BRONCO if it was the lightning or maverick no one would even care.

At the end of the day FORD knows how to mass produce units. Once they get these problems behind them, there will be herds of Broncos running off the assembly line. Short term its irritating, but in the grand scheme of things this is just a minor bump in the road.

Just this past few days I'm starting to lose confidence in Ford and my Bronco. I was a 7/14/2020 reservation, January order, 2-door Bronco has been "In production" since 7/15.

I'm ok with waiting but I'm starting to question the quality of the vehicle I'm about to get.

More communication from Ford would be helpful.

That's starting to be my concern as well. Summer is pretty much done (alleged 8/23 build), so my excitement level has waned. Now I'm questioning the quality after reading about some issues on here (MIC, hinge on rear gate rubbing, electronic gremlins, etc.). I want it, but not if it's going be flawed. Fingers crossed.

Ask @Ford Motor Company . I own a Sept 65 Built Budd Bronco, I drove my first Shelby (66 Hertz) at the age of 17 years old, I've been a long time loyal Ford fan and consumer, and I have lost faith in the company all together.

Don’t feel alone I’ve personally owned nine Fords and in business approximately 45 Ford vehicles. Depending on how this plays out with the Bronco it will be the last. Depending on when and if I even get to see the bronco I‘ll will wait to make a decision when I see the F150 lightning . I have ordered both and I’m interested in seeing which one shows up first. I just might walk away from both of them just not sure at this point.
