remember in kindergarten when you'd color the pictures but then just give up and color everything the same color because you were 5 and it was snack time? reminds me of that.

Lol YES!

Also it gives me a 90's monochrome "I painted my Ford F'kn Ranger grille myself in the shed with a Dollar General spray can, beeches!" vibe.

Not to mention it doesn't exactly match. In that lighting anyway.
Direct-on at the hood looks like a match, but at the edges where it meets the fender it looks about 2 shades darker.

Not knocking it, at least someone tried it.

I have to be careful these days and give props or I'll be made fun of for pretending to be a "paint expert" or something hurtful.

1. The curvature of the grille makes the center portion appear to be painted in flat RR.
2. I don't like the matching color but it does also speak to how different the front looks and how well my white grille will look.

I tend to agree with this.
It looks like an add-on afterthought once you highlight it with white or body color, it seems.
Hopefully Aftermarket comes out with some cool (non grumpy) options.
