Economics 101:
*Its supply and demand........which means if you want it and can buy it, It's your personal prerogative.......but that also means you don't have to buy it.

Economics 101 (Post Internet age):
*Its supply and demand.......which means if you don't like the price you 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 all over the internet and badmouth a person, company or organization like the've punched your sainted mother.🤦‍♂️

Get over it people.

Nope, it is robbery. I'll shop it around when the time comes, but my PA was written up with whatever B&P showed for interest. Some of the bigger banks work with dealers to provide better rates than what you'd get going thru a bank yourself. We do have credit unions, yes..
Lol
Oh good! Glad to hear you won’t do that to yourself.

Really 🙈. She in her 20’s she should know everything ,so you say. Come on give her a break. If your going to slap someone it should be the dealer.
Never said she should "know everything". All I'm saying is that she should have known to negotiate a price before placing an order.

All of us with a reservation received emails from Ford...and Ford clearly stated that we were to negotiate and agree on a price PRiOR to placing an order.

Jeep released the new JL in 2018 successfully, without using Fords early reservation marketing scheme. Some "first on the block" type of people paid more initially, but then things settled in as is usually the case.

Reservations actually screwed over the type of Bronco buyers who want to see in person, evaluate the options, test drive and buy a vehicle. By placing a horde of reservationists in front, who's claim to fame was bashing a keyboard a year ago, and insentiently talking about their time stamps and who is supposedly cutting their line. Yeah. ;)

One of the first Broncos that sold near me, was to a guy off the street ... when the reservationist showed up, realized what he was buying, and opted out, lol.
All due respect to the JL, but it did not have the hype the Bronco did. The better comparison is the C8, and that has had massive ADM and continues to do so. Look at the prices we're seeing on non-restricted Broncos at dealers as a sense of what they would have cost without the reservation system.

She got an email telling her what to do. Good grief...

This is not rhetorical and you do not have to respond. ;)

Not once in my post did I defend the dealer. I stated that what the dealer did was crappy.

I'm not placing blame on anyone since I don't know the entire story. Once the full story comes out, I'll point more fingers.

Dealers like this is why it's so important to have a deal in writing before placing an order. It's very simple. I reserved a Bronco. I emailed the dealer and agreed to a price, in writing, with signatures, before I placed my order. Why? Because I wanted to know the exact price of my Bronco before I placed an order. And if I wasn't happy with the price from my current dealer, I could have shopped around anywhere for a dealer for a better price and then transfer my reservation to that dealer.
I know, you keep saying that. She clearly didn’t know and saying multiple times she should have known to have her price negotiated is nothing more than blaming her. This wouldn’t be a thing if dealers weren’t shady POS.

I think regardless of her wisdom with respect to dealing with car dealers, she clearly was led to believe that the price would be one thing and the salesman tried to take advantage when her choice was to (i) pay the price or (ii) go home without a Bronco (a car for which she had been waiting over a year and she had already negotiated a price in good faith). Even if it's not a legally actionable (it probably is if she paid a deposit), it's shitty and extortionate and we should be all over the dealer for it rather than giving this woman a hard time for not expecting her dealer to fuck her over. As someone else said in this thread, these cars are special ordered by the customers and are thus NOT dealer stock - dealers have no right to force people into this kind of decision.

You were able to choose your dealer at time of reservation. The website tries hard to select your local dealer, but it’s editable.

Additionally, Ford told reservation holders to negotiate and agree on the price before placing the actual order… of course, this was still during the time before order banks were open and one could transfer their reservation to a different dealer… but I’m sure Ford’s recommendation hasn’t changed on this. Since the banks are open there’s no waiting, you can just go straight to the dealer of your choice and order right away.

Just to make sure, it just checked… still able to select your dealer:

She also got an invoice from her dealer telling her what the price would be, right? I don't recall the steps being "Reserve the Bronco. Negotiate the price with the dealer. Order the Bronco. Wait for delivery. Re-negotiate the price with the same dealer. Take home Bronco."

You’ll be surprised by how many people actually didn’t get a PA.

I edited my post but my point still is valid; ADM does not fall under either of these categories, therefore what this dealership was trying to do isn't allowed by Ford.
Cool yeah I don’t really know what is and isn’t - I only read the paperwork provided in the term sheet and don’t know what any other contractual obligations dealers have to Ford and where to find those contracts.

either way. If dealer gonna be scumbag dealer gonna be scumbag so all you can do is try your best to be on top of documentation and protect yourself at every step. Hope it works out for the buyer in every one of these cases.

I didn't get one with Stephens but they made it well known on here and their website that they were selling invoice -$1000. I figured that would suffice and didn't need to go through the extra steps. They haven't screwed over anyone that has gotten delivery. So I guess it depends on the dealer or just not trust anyone?

I’d place the ones actively advertising under MSRP in a safe category. It’s the ones who bought from local dealers who don’t have a PA, those are the ones who should be skeptical.

Basic business steps should be taken to protect yourself with any large purchase, yes, when it is a personal purchase as well.

Dealers as a group have earned themselves the distinction of being less than honest, you must always protect yourself by having everything in writing, signed by the General Manager.

When you order a vehicle, after you spec it out, review the DORA order details printout of your Bronco.

Then negotiate the FINAL, OTD (Out of The Door) pricing, including ALL FEES and TTL (Tax, Title and License).

Next add a statement:
1) Any additional changes such as options or accessories will be negoiated separately.
2) The dealer will not add ANY dealer add-ons (VIN etching, alarm system, nitrogen in the tires, etc.).
3) There will be NO test drives except by you, the named buyer.

Once this is done and EVERYTHING is in writing, have it signed by the General Manager, NOT THE SALESPERSON.

While this is new or late informaton for many, please protect yourself.
