So Ford is basically obliterating dealer allocations, right?

It's conceivable that Ford could build your bronco this week, but your dealer is out of allocation in this block, so instead, those parts go to build a stock order for a different dealer… though that could be true for a retail order at another dealer as well.
The worst case scenario is to be continually pushed out of your dealer's allocation. First for 2021, even if your parts become available, yours won't be built. Which hurts to think about. Then, 2022 comes and the same situation repeats. You're slowly pushed out of 2022 allocation. Your parts become available but not for you... Seems like this could be a realistic problem and keep repeating as long as there are constraints on any parts. There would need to be an abundance of all parts for it to not happen to at least a few people. Especially if you have a fully loaded Wildtrak or FE.

my point was you are positioning it as a favor to reservation holders, not the cash grab that it is. I’m not faulting anyone for taking advantage of supply and demand. But call it why it is; you’re trying to make as much money as the market will bear. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing for people in queue.

We're a for profit company, of course. We could have not offered a deal to B6G members and took our 500 reservations for what they were. Instead, at my urging, my GM agreed to a special deal for B6G.

I know what your point was. I'm saying both can be true. As I said, I joined initially because I am part of the community and saw bad information being posted and lots of rumors around how it all worked. The feedback I received resulted in a huge benefit to those that switched to us. I've been transparent throughout this process, and have no reason to not be now. The ADM discussion within our store was made with res holders in mind

My understanding is that it will still run off timestamp, but there won't be enough soft top orders. So to fill the gaps, there will be soft tops built for stock.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe an order will be passed over if there is a hard top available for assembly. In other words, there won't be stock hard tops built.

For months, we've all been focused on dealer allocations (once Ford backstabbed us about our timestamps),

And now Ford has said that they're going to be building dealer stock instead of reservations because they have to. But we no dealer stock counts towards their allocations regardless if there are reservation holder or not.

So say a dealer only has 50 allocations and that was supposed to go to 50 reservation holders, Ford fills those 50 with Big Ben soft tops... All the reservation holders are SOL (I mean obviously some will get sprinkled in hopefully)

So shouldn't Ford basically separate dealer allocations from reservations at this point? Or maybe even go back to original timestamp in the big picture.

Basically, as someone pointed out in a different thread... Your reserved Bronco that you have been waiting on, could be sitting as stock on a different dealer's lot because your dealer ran out of allocations.
Fwiw we've already had a few customers switch to soft top, and I haven't even touched the emails I've received since Friday. So that should ease the constraints on HT, may actually make it easier for you, depending on how many HT in front of you switch to ST.

For those with a res with us, I'll be getting back to emails tomorrow, I don't have internet access beyond my phone until tomorrow, making changes to orders difficult.

Correct that there won't be hardtops built for dealer stock (at least for 2021) but if your dealer is out of allocation for the year then regardless if a hardtop or any other part comes available for your Bronco, they're not gonna build it. Then 2022 will come with a new allocation capacity for dealerships and if that fills before yours gets built then once again you'll be pushed to the next year.

My dealership has 125 orders for 2021 but only 75 allocation. If they keep the same allocation numbers for 2022 then that's another 75. If they were only able to fill 50 customer orders for 21 and the other 25 are dealer stock soft tops then they'd still have 75 customer orders to fill in 2022. Say they get another 50 customer orders in and 25 dealer stock. 25 customers now have to wait for 2023.

Again, this is worst case scenario and most likely the part constraint situation will get better and allocation counts will be doubled next year due to 2021 production only being a half year. So, hopefully no one will get pushed years back just due to the annoying allocation system buuut it's possible.

I believe that's why they want customers to change by 7/16. Our allocation is throughout the year, I won't run out in say Sept. If your dealer has enough customers switch to a soft top, they'll be able to fulfill those in earlier allocation scheduling, or at least not build as many stock units.

But you're right, if they're all hard tops, they'll get skipped over at some point for stock soft tops.

I will say this...I will be ROYALLY pissed when I see my exact order sitting on a fucking dealer lot with a markup and I get shafted to a 2022.
That shouldn't happen. It's only going to be builds that have no constraints. They are still trying to fill reservations first but said they may not be able to. IDK......I guess time will tell. I'm more afraid of my dealer getting some "dealer stock" units and making a nice mark up on them and then trying to put the screws to us who did order. by marking our's up knowing if we back out (which I would) some idiot would gladly over pay.

Remember, allocation in MY21 exists in the way it does because Ford had roughly twice the number of orders as it does production capacity. The reason some people are getting pushed out of MY21 is because Ford literally can’t build their bronco… trust me, theyd build it and sell it if they could.

Assuming normal anticipated production capacity, and a return to typical just-in-time commodity production and delivery, all outstanding reservations/orders should be filled by Q3 2022.

“Allocation” will likely exist in MY22… but not in the sense that it does for MY21… it will simply be all of a dealer’s retail orders + some calculated number of additional stock orders.

Again, Ford would build and sell you your bronco if they could… and will when they can.

(of course if say, there’s a meteor that hits the earth and all the tire factories are destroyed, this plan could get complicated again…)

I'm not going to go out and defend car dealers, but you guys jumper all over @Gloff and Serramonte don't lnow what the hell you are talking about.

There were only 2 dealers on the entire western part of the United States that offered ANY discount on the Bronco. Yes Granger is awesome and they continue to offer below invoice, but for those of us that it makes no financial sense to go with Granger, Sean and Serramonte stepped up.

For you guys that don't live in a FU state like California, it's easy to talk trash, but we have to take advantage when and where we can.

So if Serramonte wants to give us B6G members a discount and get their money back by having some sucker with holes in his pocket walk in off the street...more power to them.

And as Sean said, the mark up you see isn't real. It's a purposely bloated number to keep the flies at bay.

If a car dealer truly marks up a Bronco that much..AND was able to sell it to some 1% er... So be it....as long as they aren't stealing my reservation to do so. (Just finding an honest car dealer is a rare occasion)

Hell I see a shit ton of Bronco Sports driving around me and every time I see one, all I can think of is what a sucker... They paid $5k over sticker for that thing!

The entire reservation system is a fraud. of course a dealer will burn an allocation for a dealer stock unit. He is going to get 10k markup on it and still has the reservation holder‘s order on his books for future revenue. The biggest issue is that we are not Ford’s customer. The dealer is ford‘s customer and that is who they need to keep happy. As one of my favorite b-school professors said, “your customer is the guy who writes you the check.” the dealer pays Ford and we pay the dealer. It really is that simple. The bronco is in such high demand that the dealers don’t need to make their customers happy.

2-door customers don’t have any option for a soft top. How about Ford stops building 4 door hard tops all together and use the hard top capacity fto just to produce 2 door tops. This would get the most reservations build in timestamp order.

C'mon....it's hard not to laugh at those prices. What's the big deal. Just a little fun.

Good for Sean if he get's that. This is still America(for now) and he can charge what he wants. I spoke to him once during my dealer switch from my shit Utah dealer and he's a straight forward guy. Maybe he gets someone with more money than brains from Cupertino to buy both.

As for hard tops not ending up dealer stock. Ya'll better brace yourselves because if you think that won't happen somehow, your bar is wayyy to high. Might want to consider how things have gone so far and remember when those goal posts move again. It's already happening is my guess. Customer cancels hard top reservation and dealer keeps it open and marks it up....early hard top reservation be damned. It makes no difference to Ford at this point if your early hard top reservation waits. Sales are pretty much baked in and known at this point. This new development is a score for the dealers and that's who Fords been trying to placate the entire time.

Ain't this fun!!

Okay that's the answer I was hoping for. What I was saying was based on what I knew as someone who's just now learning anything about new car releases from this Bronco launch haha. So, it's good to know that 2022 (normal allocation) will most likely be different. My worst case scenario in my posts was that if allocation and constraints stayed as they are for the coming years, people could continually be pushed out and back for years.

Thanks for the answer!
