not sure about you - but getting to any decent trail here is about a 3 hour ride. maybe 6 hours on the trail and a 3 hour ride back. That's half my time I would rather have a nicer plastic. We do not have fire trails or technical rocks that we can legally ride on a daily basis. I am buying a truck that will be used for that as well as going to the store and soccer practices, I am not buying a trator. As for those saying it is meant to be that way because the top comes off. How does that explain better materials in Jeep Wranglers?
That sounds like the problem, your situation isn’t one the Bronco was designed for. It was designed to be best suited for off road, utility, functional. Where you live and the long drives you have to take make me think a wagoneer or grand Cherokee would be great. Can go off road, has a very luxurious interior, great for long drives and I bet it even has rear AC vents. I made a point to live somewhere that I have easy access to trails and the outdoors. Very interested to see how convenient the spray out interior is. This vehicle is not perfect for everyone’s situation, no vehicle is, but for me it is damn near close. I like the interior more than a wrangler too, simple, functional and modern.

Because most people will not pressure wash the bronco out
Neither would I. But oppressive summer heat and sunshine in the South with the top down over a couple of years will make short work of leather.

So you are saying you are no longer getting a Bronco?
Of course not. I'm still getting it. No car is perfect. But I'd expect more.

If you get a leather interior in a jeep a lot of the normal plastic parts arecovered in leather. There is at least an upgrade path.

Having sat in and touched the MGV, I'm not impressed. If all I cared about was the interior, I'd get a jeep. But I will be using this vehicle for road trips in addition to everything else. So on-road manners are important. The jeep is mediocre at best. The bronco should drive better with equivalent off road performance. (far in excess of my needs)

Again, remember that a $35k Bronco Sport has a nicer interior.

What I have learned from this thread is that the longer one is driving on the highway in a car, the more they feel compelled to grope the dash.

Whoa.... Whoa! You're not going to treat this thing like a Polaris Ranger?! Better get a G Wagon my friend. Ford didn't make 42 different trim levels for you to think that some should divert from cheap plastic to nice plastic. You entitled snowflake...

Well the interior in my Fleetline has essentially zero plastic in it aside from clips for the gauge mounting or pull handles. The dash is full metal and chrome, with lots of nice sharp bits to make you bleed.

The vehicle is new to me within the past decade, but I think the intent of your thread was what cars manufactured in the past few decades didn't have plastic?

Copy of IMG_1392.jpeg
Cars for the last 40 years have had largely plastic interiors.

Whats changed in the last 20 is the the plastic isn't so . . . plasticy. Most cars have what the industry calls "soft touch" plastic. Its flat or matte and is soft to the touch. It looks and feels much nicer than the acres of hard plastic that was in my last ford, a 1998 Taurus company car.

Some have replied that its not wanted or needed, that the Bronco is designed to go off road.

Thats absurd. If that was the case, every bronco would be a 4 cylinder with a base or mid package. The data shows that people are ordering these things loaded to the gills. People would pay money for an upgraded interior.

I'm guessing that's a joke. I'm so far from a snowflake its laughable.

As for entitled. If I'm paying for it, I'm not entitled. Ha.

As far as a G wagon. Hah. I'm not interested in an "off-roader" with 40 series 21 inch tires.
And besides, I would never spend that much for a car that will depreciate. (A classic car that will hold its value is another story. You aren't really spending money when you buy a classic. You are just parking it)

Think the problem is that people forget where these $60k vehicles spent their money. It wasn't in the dash and door panels. It was in all the spots you basically can't see but will be glad you have once you go off payment.

Just seems like people compare the prices to a non-off-road vehicle and say they expect more.

Being able to go off road, in a very capable vehicle, is not cheap.

You want nicer interior go with the Bronco Sport, you want more capability....

I'm definitely not one of these "WELL DAMN Y'ALL ARE MALL CRAWLERS!" people, and mine will be my daily driver most of the time, but I started this thread to get insight into the complains about the plastic dash, and I still don't understand it.

Hate to sound like one of those "BUT YUR NOT OFF-ROADING" bros, but maybe the upper trim levels should be available with suede dash and 2WD, with embroidered Disney characters on the headrests and a hardtop Gorilla-glued to the body to hinder removal.

You clearly don't get it.

Rather than charging me 55k for it it the way it is. Charge me 58k and get rid of all the shitty plastic.

Supposedly the Warthog/Raptor will have Recaro seats and more leather trimming stuff to make it a luxury off roader like the F150 Raptor. Sounds good but too schmancy for me still.

Every car has a plastic dash. I think maybe the rich folks should get a Defender.

So a 2026 Bronco Wildtrak will start at 75k ? Guess that's the new 50k.
Good luck with that Ford, although there is a sucker born every minute.
yeah, about 250 thousand of them bro..... Oh, the other manufacturers are not escaping the very same issue of inflation..That is called Econ 101. fyi.
