2dr, so not an option. My hope is that with all the people switching to the soft top to get their Bronco a little (or lot in some cases) earlier that it might relieve some of the stress from the MIC top option. Plus, if Ford has taken over operations from Webasto, and dumped millions of dollars into the MIC top issue, then perhaps it will payoff to ride it out. Time will tell.

This may be the only car I get like this, so I figure let’s go all the way. I might actually like it. 😂
You're EXACTLY right

It almost feels more Bronco (as far as how Ford marketing has positioned the 6G version of the vehicle), TO have a soft top

Not really sure it makes a difference by then. These current delays are not going to last. They are talking three shifts pumping out Broncos by next year. Get the top you want, but don’t let a May-June 2021 issue drive your MY22 decision.

True, but another advantage is flipping the soft top up in seconds.

You make a wise point. But my worry was that as a fully decked out wildtrak orderer, my Bronco could be picked for build anytime between now and October of 2022 (!). Too much uncertainty for me you know?

So I wanted to mitigate that risk by getting it sooner rather than "whenever"

First, give me your best innuendo comments.

Now, I went ahead and switched to a soft top. It will be so much easier to go topless even with some of the documented drawbacks. I did this entirely to see if it’ll be built sooner. My goal is still Q1-2022, which is when I’ll need another car/truck. Will it be louder, hotter and colder in those seasons….sure. So I know that going in, just like all of the differences between a car and truck.

Yes, my plan B is still a BMW i4, but I read on that forum that a $1,500 deposit may be required. I’m out if that’s the case.

So it’ll still be a race to see when the Bronco gets here and even if I opt out later, then maybe it’ll be a little harder for the dealer to sell. 4 hours instead of 30 minutes.

Let’s see how this go….

As I drove my family back from the beach on this 83 degree Memorial Day Holiday, with a car full of suitcases, a dog and dog supplies, two coolers and beach blankets, it occurred to me that I couldn't go topless on the way home if I didn't get the soft top. Nowhere to put the panels.

And since it rained overnight the first night, we'd have had a soggy car that morning if we left the hard panels at home.

So glad I switched.

I'm thinking about switching as well. I'm a late order, I estimate they need to make 300 MIC tops a day for me to get delivery early next year. Difficult choice to make decisions, without knowing the wiring details. Does the soft top come with wiper/defroster dash buttons or is it just wiring harness to the back?

Unfortunately, the working understanding is you get none of it: no power for the wiper, no water, and no switches on the stalk up front.

Nope, that’s what a lot of people on here are having issues with…

Oh wait, I misread that, I don’t know about the dash buttons.

I don’t think ‘whenever’ is reality. They are only bouncing around with orders right now because they don’t want to lose too much momentum and are trying to at least produce something. That won’t last. If you want to role the dice in hopes you win the random lotto, go for it, but my guess is that by the end of June, Ford will have this mess sorted out and hardtops will no longer be an issue.

That sounds nice n dandy but there's still a lot of uncertainty.

  • I have NO idea where I am on my dealers allocation (they refused to share that). I'm a day 2 res but that may not help anyway

  • We don't know what other issues are coming. It seems like something new every month

  • I have MULTIPLE deadly sins. If I can remove the biggest offender, it should help somewhat. Even if not at all, I can sleep better knowing I did SOMETHING

Bottom line is, I'm quite ok with the soft top. So my switch isn't going to result in any regrets. It's to the point that if they announced tomorrow, that MIC was producing in full force, I'd stay with soft !

You are not alone in the soft top crowd. After seeing the 4 doors at Mile High Stadium on May 30th, it solidified my choice to go 4 door and soft top. Hope that the MIC is an option for later. May have to go aftermarket if not. Only problem is the door bags and the availability with hard top only. Will have to research the solution to that one.
