I'm curious, would the Coyote/10spd bridge the gap enough for the folks wanting a manual?

I feel like that is more likely than the 2.7L/7SPD, since FCA just stuffed a 392 into a JT/JL.
people want a manual because you have control over the vehical. you don't get that with an automatic

Im hoping that it simply wasnt ready yet. I mean its kinda crazy to put all that money in developing a new offroad truck transmission with a HD variant for big trucks, and not put it behind your medium sized motors eventually.
Ya I read somewhere that the manual could not handle the 2.7 torque

I bet it's due to the manual not handling the specs of the 2.7. Maybe later down the road

You read that here, where someone made it up. The tranny is rated at 406 lb-ft.

I had a ten speed, when I was 10. I'm a big boy now, if I want to drive a golf cart I'll go golfing.

I'm definitely going to try both. I know was hoping for the manual and 2.7 when we knew the 2.7 was going to be an option. Im sure the 2.3 will be a fun driver still. I'm like a lot of guys bigger motor means bigger fun.

TBH, neither engine excites me. It's more than that- The fact that they limited the manual means that dealers won't order it and it will die. Average buyers buy off the lot, no manuals available means no manual purchases. Similar thing happened with the Dodge pickups- only the expensive diesel came with a manual option AND they derated the engine like 300 lb-ft instead of putting in a bigger clutch. Big surprise, it didn't sell. If they'd offered it in a reasonably priced gas engine, maybe it would have sold better.

I wanted a V8 for two reasons. Torque curve and soundtrack. My LS3 makes 200 lb-ft at just over idle. I can take my foot off the clutch, and as long as I don't dump it or point it up a steep hill it will happily wander along with no throttle input at all. I also find myself downshifting through multiple gears to slow down rather than braking whenever possible- just to hear the engine burble down through 2000 RPM.

The Manual that's mated to the 2.3L would be almost maxed out behind the stock 2.7L, so it would need to be a different manual for the 2.7L because of the HP & Torque Upgrades that are available for the 2.7L that pump up the HP & Torque above it's limites.

The lack of a Manual for the 2.7L at least for the 2-Door which FoMoCo calls their HALO Bronco..... well.... boggles my mind. Hopefully they will re-consider this and a few other things like offering the Dig with the Manual, if not for the 2021MY, at least for the 2022MY.

How do I sign the letter?
P.S. Its good to see some other folk feel the same way about manual transmissions, and I agree with an earlier post - this reminds me of the Ram 2500 which had a manual only in the massively de-tuned diesel.

Did I miss the link to the petition somewhere in the first post?

I too feel the same way about wanting the choice of trans/engine combo. It will be a jab that Jeep will use against the Bronco and with ALL THE YEARS Ford had they just couldn't develop/source a trans to handle 400+ torque. Seems to me that their marketing department should have spent more time in the field then behind a computer screen!!

Once again, almost any transmission will have a torque 'limit' based on what the vehicle manufacturers are putting behind it. Clearly, Getrag has some other buyers, or they're partering with some aftermarket offerings, because the current spec sheet has the max torque at 590. I'm pretty comfortable saying that if GM went to Getrag to put this tranny in the Camaro ZL1, the torque limit would magically jump to 650. (Not really magic- they'd bolt it to the engine, stress it a bit and see if the wear was within specs, then call it a day)

The front dig is the sort of option that dealers will spec heavily for 'off-road cred', leading to further dwindling numbers of manuals on the lots. Very few people order a car- they go to the lot and buy what's there. Most buyers aren't really interested in driving, they want status and features. They'll buy the one with the big knobby off-road tires and leather. That one will have a auto and they won't care. The drivers will settle for no leather to get the stick. Years ago, I wanted a 90s Eddie Bauer Bronco, because I loved the 2-tone paint and the seats. But the stick was only allowed by Ford in the XLT and below. Of course, that didn't matter, since the dealers only bought them in the XLs. So, your effective choice was manual tranny or power windows and carpet- you couldn't have both.

Have I mentioned how much I hate dealers?

Enthusiast are a very small% of the population. I am sure Ford will honor your request if you agree to pay 100k for a 2.7 with a manual.

Check back in 2 years and I bet the % of buyers opting for the manual will be well under 10%
I would also bet the percentage of manual transmission would be higher IF they offered the 2.7T with the manual

As someone that owns a Coyote in both manual and automatic forms (my 2012 F150 RCSB and my 2013 Mustang GT) I can unequivocally say there is a HUGE difference in character between the two. If I am stuck with an automatic next time I buy a vehicle I would be fine with the 2.7T. However if the manual transmission is available the 5.0 is the BEST way to go. Honestly the automatic just kills the enthusiasm of the motor and you end up driving it slow.

There already is a manual transmission that can handle the torque output of the 2.7T or the 5.0. It's used in the Mustang. Just offer it as an option in the Bronco. If the 10-speed automatic fits I would bet the 6-speed Manual would also fit.

This feels like a bean counter decision. As if they think the people buying manual transmission are cheap. Whereas the reality if the opposite, it's the enthusiasts that want a manual transmission. And enthusiasts want the larger engine choice.

I will probably just keep my F150 for the next few years. It's paid off, already modded, and still low mileage. But if they want to entice enthusiasts like me, pair the big motor with a manual transmission.

I am in to sign a petition. I will pay a 10K premium

I had already contacted my dealer to order a full spec 2.7 - 7 speed manual and they informed me they only offer the base engine. These guys have an agenda to push that 10 speed.

Its going to be easier to order a manual and upgrade engine trans than it is going to be to order an auto and try a manual swap. I will LS swap this bitch if need be.

IMO Autos are an infection.
