Everybody go cancel your MIC top and towing to bump up my chances of my WT build.

Honestly, I was able to see and play with the soft top in person. If I could get my WT with a soft top (and with the electrical components installed for a later hard top), I would switch. The soft top was very cool.
I ordered my OBX w/the soft top with the intention of adding the cheaper (than the soft top) MIC top after the fact. then I found out about the lack of plumbing & electrical components on the soft top models & changed to the MIC top. I tried to get the dual top option (MIC & soft top) but that’s not offered for the 21 MY. I’d be willing to pay (within reason) for the option of including the MIC components with the soft top option. Now, adding the soft top after the fact will cost me a couple of grand, which puts in serious doubt pulling the trigger on that purchase.

The connections that are built in for the washer fluid and the defroster for the rear window. I’m sure you could add the connections in later but no telling how difficult and very seriously doubt it would be as clean of an install as factory.
It is also for the rear wiper. I doubt you will be able to install them later. I’m sure they will eliminate the defrost on/off switch as well as the rear wiper switch.

Could they just build my two-door with the connections for the hardtop and give me the Bronco ASAP, give me some kind of a credit, and send the top later? I could get a BestTop soft top in the meantime.

Is that correct, that you can't get soft top on two-door? I am entertaining a switch from MIC to soft-top to get my Bronco sooner. This decision hinges on a couple questions:

1. How much sooner would it be (any idea when I'd finally get it if I stick with MIC)?
2. How big a deal is it to later get a hard top (the connections and stuff)?

At this point, I'd be willing to switch from two-door to four with a soft top, except that it appears you can't get the four-door Base in a manual.
That is correct.

I honestly don't care about even having a wiper on the rear window.

Same here, theres a video somewhere on this site that shows the rear wiper after being used on a dusty bronco, it doesnt do much good. The defrost could be handy but with a back up cam and side mirrors I just don't see it being an issue.

Yeah.. per that accessories catalog it’s like $2200 for the soft top. I originally ordered the mod black roof but went MIC with the delay announcement. If I could pick, I’d want my WT, with the electrical and plumbing components, with a soft top then order the mod black roof at a later time. The soft top was pretty awesome in person but $2200, no way. When the mod black roof is available it’ll cost a small fortune. I hope to sell my MIC then get the mod black roof. Getting a Bimini for sure but the convenience of the soft top was awesome just can’t do $2200 for it. Tough noogies.

I currently have no wiper on my rear window and have never missed or or thought I needed one. I have defrost, but I'm not even sure I've ever used it in six years.

I just talked to my dealer. He hasn't heard anything about the hard top delays, nor did he receive the email noted at the beginning of this thread. He has 500 Broncos on order for his dealership. The only items he was told were issues were the painted hard top, tow package, brush guard and some two door delays as the planned for a lower number of orders. The information gap on this is pretty astounding.
Tell your dealer to go check his spam folder then.....

MICHIGAN ASSEMBLY PLANT SHUT DOWN

This week Ford announced that the Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP), where Broncos are born, will be down the weeks of May 17 and May 24 due to the global semiconductor shortage, pushing back the build weeks for several Broncos including FCTP units and Customer Orders. This will not affect summer deliveries or overall 2021MY production levels because MAP will not have a traditional summer shutdown, a decision we made last month.

Customers with a modified build week started receiving emails from Ford on May 6. All affected customers will be notified by end of day today, May 7. Vehicle Visibility has also been updated to reflect any scheduling changes.

BRONCO JULY PRODUCTION SCHEDULING MEMO

Below is information to support conversations with your Bronco order holders about the upcoming July Production scheduling, which begins next Thursday, May 13.

Background

· Ford is investing millions of dollars to match production to orders by stockpiling parts and increasing capacity

· Continued challenges with hard top production will result in significantly more soft tops as % of production for July production; Reminder that mixes will shift by month

· Additionally, trailer tow and safari bar will be key scheduling constraints in July

· July production scheduling begins next week, May 13

Scheduling Process Explained

Ford's production process is dynamic and based on a number of real time factors including reservation timestamp, orders available for scheduling, part availability, and the number of Bronco vehicles each dealer receives. While timestamp is a key factor, the scheduling system will continue to go down the list until it finds a clean/eligible order based on that month’s production requirements and part availability. Make sure all your orders are ready for scheduling.

July Production Notes

· Soft Top Production Opportunity

o Customers looking to get their Bronco as soon as possible should consider changing their order from hard top to soft top by May 12, ahead of July production scheduling period

o Based on current mix of soft top production and the number of available orders in order bank, a large number of soft top orders with very late time stamps will schedule for July production

· Trailer Tow & Safari Bar Scheduling

o These commodities are in short supply for July production

o Encourage customers that want to get their Bronco’s earlier to remove these options from their orders

· Wildtrak & First Edition Scheduling

o These series will have limited July production due to hard top availability

Several forum members have posted that they received no email from Ford on the 6th or 7th, but contacted their dealer & found their scheduled build week had been bumped 2-3 weeks.

Think I'll just sit here and wait. I'm in no rush. Hopefully it'll be in my garage before January 1, 2023. If not oh well, just stockpiling the $$ for the down payment.
