Especially for 4WD vehicles. Locally 2010-2013 FJ Cruisers are still selling for about 75-85% of what their MSRP was when they were bought new. With 100-150k miles ALREADY ON THEM.

Depreciation is not an automatic set percent that changes every calendar year. The market determines what value a vehicle will hold. Since '21 is a short year, the market will price them as six months old, not a full year. A far bigger influence will be model changes in those years. If something is more desirable and the next model year makes it optional or eliminates it, the earlier model may be worth more. Case in point; my 2015 Indian has an oil cooler stock and a full windscreen, they removed those (made optional) as well as a few other cost savings measures in 2016 (or thereabouts), so mine is more desirable to many people (plus it is truly a once a month pleasure cruise toy with low, low miles. It would easily sell for more than a '16 with average miles).

The converse is also true if improvements are added. Bottom line is, baring large improvements, is that they will sell at the lower to middle price end of the '22s. There is not going to be a 20% difference in price.

Reckon how many will be flipped, rolled or run off of cliffs by folks that think it can climb trees and what not? Driving wildly across the desert and bashing into a boulder... Just sayin there may be a lot less ‘21s running around in a few months than you think, especially in a specific trim. Only my thoughts
Some of the stories on the Bronco Sport prove this. Seems like too many on their roofs for a brand new vehicle.
I think if you expect to get good return, you'd best do it quick. In 6-8 months, Bronco's will be showing up on dealer lots. I think no available mod top will restrict the value a little as well as being late in the model year.

Don't care about depreciation! I don't plan on getting rid of it. The plan is to give it to my daughter when she turns 16 in 2028 and then giving it to her sister to drive when she's 16 in 2030. I'm sure everything will be electric by then; therefore, maybe it will be more valuable, but still don't care cuz I'm not letting it go!

Never buy a new vehicle as an investment. You will lose every time. I say don't worry about it, and enjoy your Bronco. If you worry about the depreciation you will never have a good day with your new toy. IMHO

I don't buy vehicles as an investment, but I don't want to get washed on one either. Losing money on a new car is an inevitability, but the degree is to which you lose is a choice. Take for example, a new BMW 7 series vs. a Tacoma.

My guess is that the Tacoma would hold value better. Of course, I'm not invested with resale value knowledge.

What is the answer to the question (BMW vs. Toyota)? 👍

Tacoma depreciates 32 percent after 5 years, 7 series depreciates 68 percent after 5 years.

It's more model dependent than brand, for example, a BMW M2 holds its value pretty well.

Thank you. Took a guess on the one.

Have no plans to resell my badlands. Have every intention of garaging it more than drive it in the beginning. Will keep driving and off roading my Jeep till my grandson is old enough to take it. Then drive the Bronco. Think that with no Dealer markup on my 2021 Bronco it will only appreciate, not depreciate. I intend to leave this one to my youngest son in my will.
