Was at the local Ford dealership today getting to get a feel for vb in the sun got corned by a couple of sales guys started talking about the Bronco I don't think they had a clue that there were 2 models granted not the dealership where I ordered mine I've purchased 4 vehicles from them and even they were kind of clueless on options and what not I used to sell Toyotas I would like to think I was knowledgeable about the line up and upcoming models just curious if anyone else was running into this issue

I'm more amazed when I find one that isn't clueless.

No offense to any salesperson here - I know there are good ones out there - but rarely have I shown up to look at a vehicle on a lot and not known significantly more than the salesperson. It's a frustrating experience.

And sometimes goes to the whole dealership. I feel like I walked my local dealership through the Bronco process, and still am to some extent...

I bet they would though especially if it's the hottest thing to come from them in the last 40 years

Apple prides itself on employing knowledgeable employees. These "Geniuses" are very tech proficient and are frontloaded with specs and features of Apple's upcoming product. It would serve as a positive example for sales in almost any industry.
There are auto dealers out there that care enough to educate themselves and learn everything they can about upcoming models and their current lineup, but I would venture a guess that they count for about 1 in 10. That said, a consumer tends to focus on one or a couple of makes and models that they are interested in. That passionate salesperson has a multitude of models to try and stay on top of. I tend to spend quite a bit of time every day to stay on top of what's going on with the Bronco. Next time you find that knowledgeable salesperson, realize how much time and effort they have put into their job. It's usually someone pretty special. That's the business card you want to keep.

I ran into it here as well- when I went in to place my order. I called my sales guy of choice in advance and stated that I had a reservation for a Bronco and made my appointment. When I got there the sales guy had an emergency leave so I got another guy. He said he would take my deposit and start the search and it would be no problem, they would have it in a week. Then I restated that I had a reservation for a BRONCO, not a Bronco Sport. He just gave me that black look, then said that you need a "special reservation"- like I had no clue. I told him I had one, showed him the reservation, #, etc. He said "well then". He found it and I was able to place my order.

Yup, clueless.

I think you will find that they will not talk about "upcoming unreleased products" until they are formally announced. And then, yes, they are very knowledgeable, particularly when they are able to get their hands on them and play.

They also do not work on commission. Car dealership salespeople are likely focused on the cars that they can sell TODAY, because that is the only way they get money to pay their rent and feed their families. Any fanatic is likely going to "out-spec" someone on a single product vs someone who has to focus on many products. Should many know more - yep, but for Bronco, its going to be a long time before they get any units they will be able to sell to someone who has not already reserved it or knows nothing about it.
