I've got the 23Zero Breezeway 72 on order. It's a big ole roof top tent (6' x 8' opened) but we need the space. I'm still undecided if I want to do an exoskeleton rack from say Gobi which is rated at 800-900 lbs static or build an off-road trailer.

There are a ton of options out there these days from hard shells to soft shells to fit what you need.
That looks amazing. It is just me and my little guy, so we don’t need anything big or fancy for our adventures.

Same boat as you. 3 of my buddies that have wranglers used to run their tents on their Gobi racks, but have since moved to a trailer. I like the option of being able to leave your tent up at a campsite for a few days with a trailer vs having to pack it up every time you want to drive to another trail.

Yep, there are several advantages to trailering if you have a large crew or are planning on being out for an extended trip. You can leave the trailer packed with your gear. Would just need to restock perishables. Also, carrying around a large RTT all the time on a rack would be terrible on gas mileage. Good for that "outdoorsy overland bro" look but hell on gas. So, being able to hook up the trailer and go just when the need calls is a plus. If you're looking at the normal sized tents and a small group a rack and RTT makes way more sense.

I think the only style I don't mind keeping on the roof is something like GFCs hardshells, but those just don't have the room that my wife wants. And I know how even if you go in with the intention to take the RTT off every time you are done with it, you most likely won't.

Did you ever get a 23Zero tent mounted on top of the Bronco? I'm looking at a scratch-n-dent 62" to pick up tonight, but wondering about the 152 pounds and what that's like.

I have the iKamper SkyCamp 2.0 mini. It's 125lbs
https://ikamper.com/products/skycamp-mini/
The 3.0 just came out, so you can save some money if you get the one I have. It a great size and can fit on top of a Mini Cooper so there will be no issues on top of a 2door Bronco. I got it because it perfectly fits above the truck bed of my Gladiator. It's a hard shell, and canvas based tent, so it is quiet in the wind and water resistant. Little video of it

Here it is on my Gladiator
