Special Order Paint?

I did a search and didn’t see anything on this and I think the answer is no but figured I would ask.. Does anyone know if it is it possible to special order paint colors that already exist in fords paint color options?

if it was how much would you pay?

Even if Ford allowed it, you'd still be limited to the colors that exist at the same plant the Bronco is being built in. Near as anyone can tell, we already have access to all of them -- the Ranger does not have any paints that aren't already available on the Bronco.

Most of us are also assuming the reason we can't get green until 2022 is because they need to use an available paint slot for Lightning Blue on the First Editions -- once all the LB are painted, they can change it to green.

I think Ford should offer color customization for $1000 or more, whatever it takes to be profitable, in order to build brands and take market share. People will pay up for customization, ala shoes, clothes, tattoos, etc. Only an upside to beta testing this.

So much this. Fun colors on fun cars needs to be a thing again. My GTI is black, and at the time, it came in 4 other colors, grey/silver/white/red. and that's IT. lame.

I'd never buy a Dodge, but damn did they ever nail it with the fun colors they put on the performance lineup.

Ford COULD do a lot more. But they’re already getting my money, so who cares what the peasants want.

To answer your question, no Ford doesn't offer that option. Wish they did, but they don't.

I can't speak to the Ford paint set up, but GM uses 1,000 of gallons of paint from huge paint tanks. In order to change colors it takes hours of work and 100's of gallons of materials to clean the lines and purge the systems. The GM system is not equipped to do one-offs, it would make sense that Ford uses a similar system.

Porsche offers a custom paint option, but it will cost you over $11,000 on a 718 for that privilege.

VW offered a semi-custom paint option for the 2019 Golf-R, 40 colors for an increase of $2,500. But, VW only sold about 3,000 Golf-R's in 2018, so its a much smaller niche market which is better poised to provide customization. Info from VW https://media.vw.com/en-us/releases/1065

that should read as VWOA opted to only import 3000 Golf-Rs in 2018. they could have easily sold more. the custom paint program is available for both audi and vw in europe. it's much more prevalent there since one is expected to 'order' a vehicle vs selecting one off the showroom floor. doesn't really work here since we expect to choose from the pool at our nearby dealer.

of course, all MY21 (and potentially MY22) bronco's are 'ordered'
