Just because there wouldn't be a 17-digit VIN doesn't mean that there wouldn't be serial numbers of some sort.Not true, they actually all have VIN on them for documentation/paperwork and proper registration trail for tracking purpose. How’s Ford going to prove to the DMV that each and everyone is accounted for when they junk them?
Ford usually uses VINs on preproduction cars but in the last seven digits of the VIN (the serial number portion) there's usually a PP, indicating preproduction.
