LOL, your center dash is like mine -- gray on the left and black on the right. I thought mine was the only one that had a left side gray panel. The same person must've built our Broncos.
I just swapped the handles to the black. I'm looking to complete the swap for the upper and lowere. I'll ship you my grey upper dash panel if you wanna ship me your black one. 🙂

Yeah it's hard to notice when you're sitting in the Bronco. It took me 2 years to notice it.

Halfway there. Just need the upper and lowers now.

@flip any update? Are the lowers non-specific to the Badlands? Is there an alternative part number I could use instead?

Other threads have cited N2DZ-7804338-BB as the black onyx with white (not orange) threading that's in the Raptors. Can you confirm that is accurate?

Here's the other thread saying that.

The catalogue doesn't have a stock photo to confirm and the description is very "global" and probably won't do much good. Just for comparison, my BL says "Leather #2 Black onyx, Vinyl #2, Black onyx" I have MGV, the old "high" package.

Strange the description its spitting out says lower. But we're saying thats the upper?

I think I'm confused now (that's not a very hard thing to do). 😆

Quick question. How does part number "S2DZ-7804338-AG" differ from the "N2DZ-7804338-BB" you shared for the stitched upper dash panel.
The original Bronco part numbers started with a prefix of M2DZ the basic or middle numbers are generally universal across all models (there are exceptions) and suffix usually starts with an A and changes from there.

In the past, Ford would change the first character, number or letter, in order based on model year. They try to stay away from "O" and "Q" because they are similar to "0". Why they jumped to "S" from "N" avoided the "O" and "P" was already being used with some accessories, "Q" because it was too close to "O". I'd have to dig around and see if they used "R" for anything like accessories or some other specialty part as a reason for skipping it but that is my best guess.

They've been moving to more of a "global" part and description system that kinda upended the past incremental numbering system and they've started using basic numbers for stuff other than what was universally understood for many decades.

Attached is the basic numbering legend.

Lot of useful bits of information here. But let me ask a different way. Are part numbers "S2DZ-7804338-AG" and "N2DZ-7804338-BB" for the same stitched orange upper dash panel, or are these two completely different parts? If different, whats different about them?

Don't know, looks like the only difference is build date.

Hmm. I would have guessed the AG and the BB were trim specific. So even though S2 or N2 might have been the leading digits based on build date, the last 2 digits would mostly the same. No?

DZ is model and design code so it should stay with bronco, at least until a generation change. I'm not fully read on Ford reasoning on part numbers. For about ever, Ford p/n system was predictable but there are only so many alpha numeric combinations before they start repeating or overlapping with past sequences.

Got it.

So at the end of the day, we really can't be sure that either of those part numbers will get me the same part.

Asking as I continue my hunt for either of them, while trying to avoid a very expensive mistake.

It gets super sketchy when it comes down to fitment and build dates. If I were going to take an educated guess, I'd stick with the part number that falls within your vehicle's build date. Something changed when it jumped from the N to the S but there's nothing that says whether it was a supplier, different dimensions, different hinge, latch or whatever. That's not always the case but short of getting the newest number and trying to install, it's safer too assume it won't fit rather than it will.
