i was surprised to discover my new Bronco doesn’t have HomeLink.

I park in the driveway, but I go in through the garage, so having a garage door remote the car is ideal.

Because it’s parked in the driveway, I probably don’t want to leave a fob in there since if someone gets into the car, they can get into the house. It’s unlikely, but still…

I looked at replacement visors and mirrors, but they’re pricey.

It looks like I’m down to Meross, Tailwind or Genie Connect. It seems that all of those rely on having your phone with you which is OK I guess.

What are others doing?

I bought a little remote from Amazon. I have it tucked under the dash piece that hangs over the storage tray in front of the shifter. Stuck it there with a bit of Velcro. its pretty hidden e en if you’re looking in that area. Easy to reach and has really good range.

i picked up one of the Kia rear view mirrors with home link built in that a bunch of people here installed but never used it. This remote is way easier and I can just grab it and Take it with me if need be.

If you have powered visor mirrors, you can just buy the visor with the homelink.
Not the cheapest option, but the cleanest.
I was always planning on doing that, even through the Bronco does get parked in the garage - so I don't have a problem leaving the remote clipped to the visor.
My daily driver gets parked in the driveway, it also does not have homelink, so I have one of the coded remotes by the garage door.
Also, I can control the garage door from an app on my phone.
So, a few things you already mentioned, but that's what I'm doing.
The app on my phone that operates my Liftmaster motor is called MyQ, I think. And they are IDIOTS for not integrating their app into Carplay by now.
If I could open it from Car Play, I honestly think that would probably just be the best solution.

I installed the remote that came with the opener there with a Command strip. Has better range than any Homelink I've ever used.

I've got the Meross smart garage opener. I got the home with homekit and it integrates right with carplay. Anytime I get within 1/4 mile of the house, the button to open the door pops up on carplay's homescreen. Just a tap and voila!

I just put it in 4WL and bash through the door. You only have to do it once and then you never have to open the door again.

I did the OEM visor replacement and don't regret the cost at all (surprised it hasn't come down in cost with salvage parts). Plus I run doors off a lot and don't have to worry about getting an opener swiped if I forget to lock it up.

Easy to install?

I just click the button on the remote. Garage door opens. 🤷‍♂️

Admittedly I don't give a hoot about home automation, seems all very overpriced for practically no benefit. But do HomeLink garage door openers not have an old-school remote?? Seems kinda silly.

Surprised? The features of each package are clearly listed before you purchase... I use the MyQ app on my iphone.

Yep, totally my fault for assuming. It has so many other great features, I just assumed homelink would be there. It still seems kind of silly that it’s not, but it is what it is.
