Yesterday, my 3rd day of ownership, I rotated the 5 original tires one position clockwise and today changed the engine oil and filter.. My stealership uses some greasy black crap on tires that is NOT water soluble so has to be scrubbed off using a houshold cleaner; the first 3 I scrubbed with much detergent before realizing I wasn't getting much off 😣 , but the last 2 are relatively greasless and look better.

Engine has 3250 miles on it; used Kirkland full-syn. 5W-30 and a FRAM Ultra Synthetic filter.. The skidplate is fastened to the chassis with the same 15mm-hexhead screws as my Badlands was and came off and went on very easily.. Also replaced the throw-away panplug and replaced it with one of those pricey, permanent, machined-aluminum versions.

Damn I'm tired.. At 81YO, slightly arthritic, and 40 pounds overweight, and with the temp. in the shade about 100dF., that tire work took me over two hours--I rested in front of the cooler quite often--and my younger, healthier, stronger neighbor again had to lift the spare onto its mount.

But I LOVE LOVE LOVE this thing--even the Raptor bling.. It's much more responsive than the new Badlands I owned for 18 days. 😏

Dude, I give you credit for doing all of that outside in the Arizona heat at 81 years old. Even if slightly arthritic and 40 pounds overweight, you're way beyond a lot of people at similar (or younger age) in this world right now.

I'm only 44 and would probably be wiped out doing the same thing here (and I'm in pretty good shape and maybe 10 pounds overweight at most :)).

I forgot, this is also posted in the tires forum. New shoes for the 2d OBX (nitto terra grappler g3
P 275 /70 R18 116T SL ) No lifts, the 33" just drop right in and make themselves at home.

Load range SL,

Thank you! I'm opinionated, and overanalyze, so bear with me
Load range SL, harder to find in the 18" size, but I really didn't want the harder ride of C.
As for road noise, let me see if I can describe it properly... No harmonics, no hum, doesn't really have its own sound signature, to me it sounds like a slightly louder wind noise from a 2dr hard top, and now that Summer is here I drive with the windows down a lot. I've got them at 36psi cold. Handling is vaguely more truck-like, but grip is way better than the OBX OEM tires.
I would not have gone with the previous generation, manufacturers have really stepped up to the plate with this generation of designs across the board, I feel.

If you want, my dash cam has audio, I can send a recording on my next trip through the canyon at 65mph here for you.

Much appreciated, great feedback. I have a set of Falken Wildeak on mine with 36000 miles. Great tire however as they get more miles they get louder. At highway speeds
they are louder than my hard top. I run mine at 38 PSI. I trust your word on noise. Thanks

As far as I know, they all get louder as they age. Falken was in the running

AFAIK they all get louder as the miles wear on. I'm OK with this. Mine are way too new to help with new vs. aged road noise :cautious:

I turned mine into a Raptor! Best way to make 3 active recalls go away!

went from this

I did get emotional after I sealed the deal. After 4 years and 60k miles I will miss her. But holy crap not when I’m driving! I hope the next owner has as much fun as I did πŸ˜€.
