I've still got my IAG separator...just haven't installed it as my dealer said I may have an issue with warranty if I have any issues with my motor and considering the issue that the 2.7 has, I have decided to be safe.

Install looks very straight forward. I've installed countless oil catch cans / separators and the FP ones work well and install OEM-like.

Interesting install. Odd bracketry and canister retention methodology. Driver side install...the orange fittings are a friggin' nightmare. I'm dying to know why they are used. I resorted to cutting the hose and then chipping away at the rest of the 90* boot. Once that hose is gone its an easy install.

Funny how high the passenger side box ends up being.

If I may opine for a bit. I had experience with FP's offerings back when they first came out with them for the GT350. I had a couple of unique issues with the ones sent to me such that the engineer behind them got involved. One was an issue of a vent hole in the sump never having had been cast in, and another where I had one fracture at a weak point. I wrote why the hole/weak point should be eliminated in a message to the engineer and he agreed and implemented a change almost immediately. Color me shocked - somebody actually listened for once and took action (thanks Ron!). In both cases I was taken care of with new hardware. I wasn't unhappy or meaning to complain, just speaking to the actual issues at hand and it was all good.

On my 2020 GT500 it came with the filter in a box in the trunk. Very similar style (only bigger) and that did something else, it drained back into the valve cover.

And now the Bronco Raptor FP kit. Same signature if you will. Common among all three is the way oil vapor gets filtered. As FP puts it in their listing for the Warthog...

"Precision molded canisters with unique filter media separates oil vapor from the air in the PCV system to help keep oil out of the intake."

The filter media is wafer thin and you can't see light through it. Completely different than what the rest of the Ford aftermarket is doing. It allows for a very compact unit. The quality of each component is absolutely first rate and I really like the OEM-like hoses.

I do like what the aftermarket does where they use lengthy hoses/brackets to place the separator at a convenient location for service. In this regard, the Ford offering suffers in that they are hard to reach. The capscrews aren't captured in the top lid so don't drop one when servicing as you lay atop the engine. In talking with the aforementioned FP engineer, he was reluctant to consider any type of drain and I still think that would have been a good idea. Regardless, I like the quality of the FP separators and for me that trumps the location consideration.

As I had mentioned about the installation - the driver side unit is a bitch due to the fittings on the existing hose. Makes zero sense to use the orange fittings that must be destroyed in order to install the new hose. There is a way to save them from destruction but you need access to the fittings and there just isn't room for that in this case. I resorted to the cut and remove method. Once the hose was cut, I could rotate them to just barely get access where needed, and then destroy each.

Driver side top - wasn't so bad once cut.

Driver side bottom hose connection - the engineer responsible for their design deserves to be shot out of a cannon. They absolutely suck. Even after cutting to allow rotation it was still challenging to access the area needed.

And here's the thing (you know, the thing...). Imagine you have to drop your Bronco off for service, that work has to be done in that lower driver side area where typically an exhaust manifold would exist (except for this somewhat unique design of engine family). The mechanic would have to destroy the hose/fittings in order to gain access, and then go to the parts department to source the same hose that again would have to be destroyed if access is needed again. Makes no sense. Now if the mechanic is tasked with something similar and the vehicle has these separators, he just disconnects the fittings and sets the hose aside for reuse. Saves time and money.

That tiny spec of blue you see in the next picture means everything is good in the world an the fitting/hose will easily come on/off now. Hallelujah!!

A couple more shots for perspective and then a better explanation as to how it was mounted.

Regarding the rather high separator...you have to locate two unused holes in the manifold (I'm kind of pointing at them in the next photo) as that is where one of the two supplied brackets will attach. The kit supplies new bolts for this.

And then you slip the separator onto the bracket via its two slots.

On the drivers side install, just pull hard and the “tamper proof” connections will just break and you’re good to go. There are little things with this kit that seem a bit odd as noted above, but over all, pretty simple.
