I think of a SQL or hive database query output agg. Great ways to display and project data.

you think pivot tables are fun, wait til you discover vlookup

wait, how are pivot tables even an unprompted topic here?
xlookup >vlookup/hlookup all day.

When they rolled that out it was a game changer. Even replaces Index/Match and complicated sumproduct formulas.

I did a pivot table in a meeting and everyone's mind was blown.
I'm just so glad that I learned excel before lotus... I was in that transition time.

Let’s talk about table joins...
Are you a having

or

sub query min/max or whatever you are looking for to then inner/left join

kind of person?

I worked at Microsoft from 2000-2006 (Legal & Corporate Affairs, back when that was a business division and some guy named B. Smith was the director of our division, I think he's still with the company). Building 8, 1st floor directly under where BillG and SteveB had their offices (they had all left for Bldg 34 by the time I worked for the Soft)... Don't laugh, but Balmer and I had the same barber for about 10 years. My hair cut took drastically longer o_O.

We were having a problem running queries out of a few internal tools (Matter Management) because they would exceed Excel's row/column limitation (which I believe was 10,000 columns, 50,000 rows at the time). Ultimately our team, which was absolutely not a "tech" team, got paired up with the folks developing Excel 2004 who had no idea somebody would want to run more data in the program (just use Access! Said nobody ever except the Excel dev team). Long story short, 3 years of working with them and suddenly Excel 2004 had 100,000 columns and a million rows, and pivot tables became functional....

I would say "you're welcome" but frankly, I was too young to understand what was going on with it all and only years later would others figure out the real power of pivot tables. Still, it was really cool to bomb the initial interview because pivot table knowledge was mandatory.... Somehow got the job anyway and self-taught. For a first job out of college it was pretty awesome!

When I see pivot tables I automatically think spreadsheets. Is there a different kind of Bronco related pivot table?!
Yes there is. It relates to the B&P.
