I love my 2018 (Gen2) 2.7 A10 combo. Zero issues so far but I still only have 36k miles on it.

This combo in a 4,200 lb truck is very fun and surprisingly fast, especially in sport mode.

Turn TC all the way off and can light up the tires and do donuts.
If the truck you're talking about is your profile pic, than I love it. I was looking at a regular cab with short bed F150 prior to the bronco being announced. But I'm hoping that the 10 speed just has some bad eggs, just like anything else out there. But it's still hard to say if they truly will stand against the test of time since they are still a reasonably new transmission.

Carbon build up is due to poorly designed engines, my 2017 car has no such issue or history.
I believe carbon buildup is due to no air/fuel mixture going over the intake valve in direct injection motors. ALL direct injection motors whether V6, V8 from GM, Ford, Toyota, BMW etc have the POTENTIAL for this issue. Your 2017 may or may not have direct injection.

To counter this Ford (and Toyota and maybe others? not up to date I'm afraid) introduced the dual injection system on Gen2 2.7. This has both direct and port injection. So you get the extra power/efficiency advantage of direct injection and the cleaning of port. Best of both worlds.

Coming here asking these questions is a good place to start to be pointed in the right direction to what I am looking for rather than spending the time shuffling through page after page that all might just be rumors. At least here there's enough people who also want the same answers that there's a strong likelihood someone here has already stumbled upon some hard proof or facts.

It is the truck in my pic. Was actually very hard to find a simple 4x2 reg cab short bed. Everyone seems to need a 4x4 crew cab.

I bought it as a placeholder until I am able to get a Bronco. The light weight and locking rear diff with 2.7 A10 power combo has honestly been perfect for exploring off road in the mountains and streetlight races in town.

With the kids gone the reg cab has been fine. The visibility and short wheelbase is so much easier around town than my crew cab Ram or even worse the Mega Cab I had.

Makes me even more excited for similar weight and shorter wheelbase in a 2-door with top and doors off. I think people will be shocked at how fast it is.

As I said I only have 36k miles on the 10 speed so can't address long term reliability but for an auto it is one of the best I have owned. I find myself saying "I love this power!" a lot more often than I find myself saying "I wish I had a manual!". And I really love manuals.

Yeah I can't do crew or mega cabs, I love my small compact vehicles too much. Big power in a small package is what I love. I kinda want to give the auto a try since I know I'm going to be putting a lot of miles on my bronco, and probably would be nice in traffic, but I've always owned manuals, so it'll be tough decision.

Do you know where the 10 speed is made? What happened with the mustang manuals?
I believe in America, there’s so many vehicles with American or 1st world built engine/trans that it would be spiteful to purposely buy from China.

After a couple threads here today regarding Turbos, reliability and premium fuel requirements I may take a pass until there is a naturally aspirated engine available.

I wouldn’t touch a Chinese transmission no matter how well it paired to the engine. Purposely buying Chinese products today is no better than buying German products in 1943.
Buy the stick, have a tremec on standby, and you're set

What’s the last 4wd stick Tremec built? Duramax 5 speeds? You would probably have better luck with an Aisen AR5
I love my manuals but I have a bigger issue buying from the CCP than I do going with the automatic.

You might never get a Bronco (or a new model vehicle) ever then. As you can see in my profile, I also like simple(r) NA engines but it is getting pretty hard to find them. I had to pass on a few better deals on Wranglers with 2.0Ts and RAMs with "eTorque" that they are pushing to help meet CAFE. But have come to the realization these might be my last two like this. But for now I will enjoy that big V8 growl...

Manufacturers can peddle that garbage all they want, it’s just going to push me into a 3/4 ton truck.

Well hard proof would be a trans code found on the bronco, or a schematic that is the 7speed with the code MT88 labeled on it. That certainly would satisfy my curiosity. Once again even if it's been discussed many, many times doesn't make it hard proof. It doesn't matter how many times its stated, it depends on the foundation. So currently the talk of the town is that Getrag is the designer of the bronco 7speed, getrag is a German based company that can outsource production to China, a previous collaboration between Getrag and Ford was the mustang MT82 which was made in china, the MT82 has a bad rap as being a sub par transmission, Getrag or the china based manufacturer has a transmission in development with the code MT88, a new transmission Ford would be working on is more than likely the new transmission going into the bronco. So MT88 = bronco 7speed = produced in china = sub par like the MT82.

On top of all of that, just because it's from china doesn't immediately mean crap quality. I guarantee more than 50% of everything you own was made in china or has a part of it made in china.
