My thoughts exactly. I don't know what that rear connection is rated at but it's really for lighting only. Not motors.
It looks like you are not familiar with the 7 pin wiring?

I am familiar with it but I doubt you're getting 30 amps out of your trailer connection...

I also doubt that no matter what Ford says.
Just look at the wire they left us above the passenger area... they think that wire is sufficient for anything with a decent amount of amps? I think not.

The wire coming out of the compressor isn't even 6-8ga. Which makes me assume it's not 30A continuous. Search around the web shows that a typical 12v air compressor is in the 10-30A range of actual draw. Given this is a single piston small compressor I'm assuming it's at the lower end of that range.
And the heavy duty 12v compressor isnt meant to have to run 20’ either to its connection at the battery and thinner gauge wires. I always jump up to thicker gauge wiring because of voltage drop for longer runs.

Ford Bronco Viair 7 pin Adapter IMG_2027

In case my harebrained (or is that Viairbrained?) idea doesn’t work I put a plug on the original battery clamps as a backup.

I haven’t tested the compressor under load yet although it seems to run ok during a test run.
