The executive pay in a bankruptcy has to be approved by the bankruptcy committee who, in almost every case, are a group formed from the top creditors.

The executives asked to stay with the the sinking ship because retaining their knowledge of the inner workings of the company has been decided, by the creditors, as the best way to maximize the outcome for all concerned parties. The moral of the story - the executives are not just giving themselves bonuses.

Trying to replace a tenured financial, operations or logistics leader in the middle of a bankruptcy is probably not in anyone's best interest. And staying with a failing company is not a great job for an exec.
I agree. The more people you can help and direct usually means more compensation along with more responsibilities and worry. When I go home from my employment I leave most of it there. But with my own business I am always looking for solutions and worrying about how I can make it better. I am working 24/7

Well, we all know what the UAW is asking for . . . the question no one knows is what will they accept.

UAW needs to create a situation where they prove their value and then get rewarded when they show clear results. Profit sharing when you contribute and drive up profits. If you cause less profit then you should also be willing to take pay cuts accordingly. Maybe pay employees 100% stock? That way they get compensated same as execs?
i think you meant to say this for the salary workers. i'm in a union skilled trade and work in gm primarily but ford and the 3rd motor company also. the upper management needs to be trimmed. bunch of ppl just soaking up a salary and have no clue to what it is they're supposed to be doing. people who bitch about unions don't understand unions and think there is only one. i will pay dues and support salting to keep rtw the fuck outta my state. gkad it got voted out in MI finally. Scabs trying to ride the coattails of the guys who fought hard and pay dues to have a good check and retirement plan and not pay a fucking cent because of rtw.

From the union worker perspective - what are you looking for? What is an acceptable wage increase? What are you looking to get for a retirement plan?

They also don't want to fund ex UAW officials' personal cabins built with UAW members' dues.

Who is responsible for Ford QAQC on,after assembly? Attrocious Panel gaps, wrong seats and door panels installed, a few dozen paint drips on a bedside(my f150, that dealer had to repaint after I purchased), and a million other quality issues at Ford.

Is it the UAW employee, robots, salary supervisors( if they exist), executives at the beach, dealers, or all?

Very multi - layered process
In a quick summary, QAQC starts with the companies sending parts to Ford. Each company has it's own quality group and with it, chance to catch the bad parts

Ford has incoming quality inspections at each plant. Then yes the line worker has a chance to catch bad parts. Then each worker down stream from where the bad part was added has potential to catch. Then final assembly inspection. Finally a chance for a random audit inspection., These are done usually monthly and vary quite a bit, though are a very small quantity as they take a ton of time. Add to that extra inspections when quality alerts are issued when a known bad part is found.

Having said that Ford's poor quality means with all these checks, inspection's etc it's still not enough. This is where head of quality needs to step up their game and start finding root cause of the poor quality

Oh I'm not UAW. I thought my post made it pretty clear. I have a pension, 401K and portfolio so I'm not looking for anything else. local 290 pipefitter, welder and licensed plumber here and ready to do the job too big or over the heads of the in house fitters.

But back to your question; i'm looking for a quality of life, workers rights(looking at you TSMC) and a fat retirement for all the fucking back breaking hazardous bullshit i've been doing for decades. shouldn't have to work your life away just to "enjoy" it post retirement.

acceptable wage increase would be one that keeps up with inflation

No one gets an acceptable wage increase that keeps up with inflation.

A fat retirement should not just be a handout either. Personal investments need to be a large portion of that ( like your 401k, roth ira, etc.)

Pensions are losers for companies, which is why they try to buy them out or freeze and start 401ks.

i think you meant to say, no blue collar gets an increase for inflation. my pension is through my local not a company. i can work for dozens of different companies in a year if i wanted.

i do believe you are one of the ppl that think there's only one union.

I work for arguably one of the best companies in the US and a fortune 500 (top 50, actually) company

Over the last 10 years they've phased out pension
Increased health insurance costs
And annual merit increases are never close to inflation

Not sure why the UAW wants different treatment. Hard to side with them when a lot of their demand, at the surface, appear very unreasonable.

I know public negotiations are always ugly, and both sides will always ask for more than they know they can reasonably get, but the UAW appears out of touch with reality

LOL, you are 100% the stereotype for a union worker. Do you have a tattoo of your local on your arm?

Good luck getting a 32 hour work week.

I grew up blue collar and had a few opportunities to join different unions. I easily declined and went to college. I even was a salary supervisor in a couple different industries with union labor. It felt more like babysitting than working.

I would show more support for unions if their work was as good as they think it was.
