SC property tax

New resident to SC. I was wondering what I might be able to expect to have to pay for IMF and property tax ( annually ?) on the bronco? I have zero Idea how it works.

SC resident here. Very confusing down here for sure. I bought my Bronco out of state the last week of January 2023 for an out the door (taxable) amount of about 46,000 even. I happen to have my check book and tax docs in front of me, so maybe this will help approximate (though I'm in a different county).

• $424 taxes paid to county treasurer (taxes on vehicles are paid forward -- not arrears -- so if you are registering your vehicle this month you'll only pay the last 4 months of 2023 I believe.
• $555 to the DMV. This is the IMF, tags, title etc.

It's dependent upon which county you'll live in. Berkeley County is more expensive than Charleston or Dorchester.

Here's what I paid last year:
2022 4-door Bronco Wildtrak (Initial registration) - $771
2016 Ford Mustang GT (56000 miles) - $240 (including $70 for custom plate renewal)
1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 - $13 (lowest you can pay)
2017 Mercedes Benz C300 (60000 miles) - $262

Yup. It will decrease over time. I checked my neighbor's two door base from last year (new) to this year (renewal) and it went down like $150. I'm really hoping mine will be below $600 this year, and the Mustang will be around $120.

Sales tax is capped at $500 for vehicle purchases, so this serves to keep the funds at the local (county) level instead of at the state level, because *checks notes* funding roads via state taxes is bad.

Did you report this rape to the police? That's just an insane amount of money every year, but some other states are also bad when it comes to vehicle tax.
