Picked up my Wildtrak with high package last week and thoroughly impressed with the vehicle. However, the audio system is the absolute worst I’ve ever had in any vehicle. There is Zero bass and sounds tinny. Mine does NOT have the B&O and Ford deleted the Sub. Is there a solution for under $1000 installed that gives a drastic difference with some bass?

I’m guessing install on that would be $1k? Of course unless I did it myself, but that looks way over my head. And does the sun go in the factory location?

I’m in the middle of my budget audio upgrade and will be way under $1k. Installing myself and tuning the dsp is a learning curve and taking time. The kicker key 200.4 seems to be the simplest budget approach, but nearly impossible to find right now

Preview:
  • coaxial 4” in the dash (I used kicker ks, but I think the cheaper more sensitive infinity reference would be a good pick)
  • infinity dsp4425 wired to power 4 fronts separately (sound of tri state has this factory refurb for a crazy $130)
  • todo: mono amp and kicker comprt down firing sub

Thanks I’ll check it out, I searched but it was overwhelming with the amount of threads.
I have read these three threads in depth and will try a blended strategy on my high package when my Bronco arrives. Lots of great information.

I have budgeted about $850 and my time for Total Speaker upgrade = $350 + Kicker Amp & Plug & Play Harness for AMP + AMP ($455) + Kilmat sound deadening sheets. WIll source my speakers from Crutchfield.

For cheap and easy, I’d definitely check out the threads where people use the fusion amp and kicker 6.75 in the deleted sub spot. That should get you some low end. Swap the dash for sensitive 4” coaxial like infinity reference to get cleaner highs that can be powered by factory head unit and likely match sensitivity of stock kick panels. If still not satisfied, a DSP for the fronts should make all the difference.

1st 2 steps are easy... Put a set of Infinity REF4032 CFX in the dash using the harness linked below. Big improvement in the front with the Infinity and the harness includes a 600hz bass blocker.

Plug and play.

https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Ref...qid=1690217890&sprefix=ref4032,aps,261&sr=8-1

https://www.ebay.com/itm/3349276977...RQ3awhjj24FT1e9dGuWgB9YMw=|tkp:Bk9SR9r9tY2xYg

Then the second step is the Kicker 6.75" 4ohm sub and the Fusion Amp from teamequip.

This is nearly plug and play and you will need to use Forscan to turn on the sub. Links above from @RagnarKon on how to do it.

https://www.amazon.com/KICKER-CompR...mzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc

https://teamequip.com/fomoco-fp5t-1...ystem-amplifier-for-ford-fusion-fp5t18c808ab/

That's the first big step and it's around $300 once you buy the Forscan adapter.

Then you can look at swapping out the rear pods to 6.75 pods and that's another decent improvement for around $250 more.

I went with the Mabett pods (currently out of stock) and Hertz X-170 speakers for them.

Again, a little more Forscan tweaks needed, but worth it.

Pretty big move up in quality there for around $550.

Plug and Play Kits has a complete kit available..just a tad over $1k

After speaking with Joe @ PnP Kits I went with this config (mostly). I was already going with the KS all around and planned on going with the Key200.4 due to popularity and brand recognition. However, 50w RMS isn't a lot of power. I've installed HU's with more power than that. So I opted to go with the Musway based on Joe's recommendation. HOLY CRAP! What an amp! I'm blown away by the power it puts to the 6 speakers. I also opted for a Kicker Hideaway 10" on the gate. I've got some picks I'll share in another post but so far I'm impressed with the sound this system puts out.

PS: I highly recommend PnPKits harnesses for this install. They were a game changer compared to to old school splicing!

I replaced the 4" speakers with Pioneer, (kept kick panel speakers), and put Infinity subwoofer (from Crutchfield), under front seat, sounds awesome! Around $550.
