Did you plan out and reserve spaces or are you winging it and boondocking as you go? Are you using an app to identify campsites?

Wing it and boondocking. I’ve tried a few websites and apps. So far unimpressed with all of them.

https://www.campendium.com/ seems to be the best so far.

I just started playing with that app in preparation for a trip out to SD and WY in a few weeks. My plan is to wing it, also, glad to see your trip is going well with the same plan.

I tell people that I’m not planning. I have a list of potential things I’d like to do. The only coordination is when I need to visit with folks. :)

Too bad I didn't see this thread several weeks ago. Didn't know you were going to spend a few days in the area. With your permission, I would had joined up with you exploring central and southern Utah.

Ford Bronco A Month on the Road - Live Updates IMG_1059

Yesterday morning started with a visit to Antique Archeology and 900 miles later we ended up in North Carolina. I’ll stay with family for a few days and head on my way. Need to change oil and air filter.

So far I’ve gone 5k miles and I need to cross the country the hard way again.

But the Bronco had been solid.

I changed the air filter and changed the oil today. First oil change for the vehicle at 9k miles. If you’re one of those people who change every 1500 miles just keep it to yourself. :p

According to the app it was at 11%. Good enough for me.

The air filter wasn’t horrible. I expected worse considering what I’ve put this thing through. But I changed it anyways. Interestingly NAPA didn’t show a part number for the air filter so I had to go to the local dealer here in Greensboro.

So I’m good now. Will take off Thursday and partake in lots of bbq as I head through the south. Probably going to need to keep it to one meal a day. Ok, maybe two…

Yesterday was Cinnamon Pass, part of the Alpine Loop in Colorado. Engineers Pass is higher put it’s not open yet. Cinnamon Pass is 12,640 feet at the summit. It’s a very Bronco worthy road. In fact we saw two others up there! Highly recommend you check it out if you’re in the area.

Nothing a Bronco can’t handle. I’d recommend airing down just to make the road more comfortable. I didn’t on the initial section out of Silverton but once we got up to the bathrooms at the split I did.

There were definitely a couple spots that you’ll need to navigate but even a base Bronco can handle.

Your Bronco’s remarkably clean in many of these pictures. You’re either a) washing it regularly, even though you’re on a big road trip, or b) you‘ve staged all of these pictures, like the moon landing (kidding - I’m not one of those folks)

Not a very good washing in Nebraska and a proper washing in NC. I’m not mudding so there’s just been a layer of dust on it. And very, very little rain.

At Painted Canyon — This might be the last night camping on this adventure. It looks like I picked a decent spot. I watched the sun set and then little bats flew out of the canyon to eat the few bugs that are here. While it was a hot day (100F+) it’s cooling off and there’s a nice breeze. I’m looking forward to some amazing stars tonight.

At Painted Canyon — Day 28 and I finally get to use my recovery gear. I’m coming out of the canyon and see a van on the side of the road. I can tell they are stuck. I got out and woke them up. It was a couple from France and their friend from San Diego. After a few tries (always try the minimum first) I got them out. The Bronco didn’t even struggle. And it was safe.
