Good Monday Morning,

I finally picked up some badlands rims from @HuntersBronco , and I really dig the look. I gave up trying to find some optionals. They match better than I expected. I also am going to tackle adding the hitch and the wiring for tow.

I picked up a new jet ski last week and want to be able to pull it. The hitch itself looks pretty straight forward, but the wiring from the Ford diagram looks like a nightmare. Why they didn’t add the connections at the back of the wiring harness, I have no idea. I found out last night I have the wiring under the hood for the accessories, but I don’t have the switches, I have a sunglass holder. Anyways, does anyone have a good write up for the hitch wiring, that may be a bit simpler. Loving this thing more and more 👍

With that small trailer, there is no need for a brake controller. That being the case you should only require a 4 pin connection and that 4 pin hitch wiring will be easy. Couple of companies make a plug and play harness. Hardest part is running a wire to the battery for power.

Something like the plug and play harness loinked below should do you just fine. However, please be aware that there are two different versions of this, depending on which tail lights you have. The LED signature harness is different than the halogen one.

Yeah I figured out the brake controller part, I’m never going to tow anything that would need one. So I’m going to stick with 4 pin. I ordered the wire harness from ford and it should be here today. I also pulled up the ford installation instructions, and it looks like I have to pull the interior all the way to the back of the vehicle. I believe the trailer I have has LED tail lights built into the back, I’ll have to look more when I get home.

What tires are you running? How's the drive ability and road noise?

I’m running the stock 285/70/17 tires that come stock I believe. Road noise is a bit more pronounced, but nothing crazy. The ride quality I think had improved quite a bit. The outer banks tires seem rather hard compared to these. They take imperfections in the road better, and it’s a softer ride. I’m definitely happier with the ride quality for sure, not to mention it looks like night and day difference.

I went with a 285 on my OBX and I agree the ride is much better, but as expected with a more aggressive tread you get a bit more noise.

Not to mention the vast improvement in smiles per gallon.

I’ve noticed the gas mileage has relatively remained unchanged. Overall very happy with the change. I can’t imagine why they ever decided to put those 18’s on the outer banks, bad tires and wheels for that vehicle, in general.

FWIW I intentionally typed "smiles" over miles.

MPGs really depends on driving habits IMO.

Oh yeah lol, I got the reference. I just wanted to throw that in there. Next thing I’m doing is the ford performance tune, and I’ll be updating tire size, as well as deleting that annoying double honk.

Forgive me if I missed the detail, but who is the manufacturer and what is the model of the tire. They look great.

Thank you. These are the BF Goodrich KO2 tires. They come stock on a few of the bronco models. Very popular tire, and the ride and noise quality is great 👍. I give them an A rating in my book.
