Lol, you should go look at that little USA company and what they openly wear. He is playing you, he is not helping American small business by price gouging and he is letting china get a foot in the door. If he charged $100 this wouldn't even be a discussion.
I’m sort of in the camp of “If he’d charge something like $129 (he’d likely sell 3x as many as well as keep the Chinese competition at bay.” I’m all for rewarding the R&D and keeping stuff as American as possible but at $350 they’re really leaving the market wide open and asked for this. Whether or not someone chooses to go one way or the other is irrelevant to me but price gouging is no more patriotic than buying Chinese

It's the same as small scale economics. I grew up in a small town in West Texas, where the nearest Walmart or Target or grocery store with decent fresh food or even just a business with a competitive market was a 45min drive away. Our town had the whole shop local first program going in an attempt to keep businesses from going under. Which, that's fine, I certainly would because it's more convenient, as long as the price was fair and the products were acceptable. But when you have no choice but to drive 1.5hrs to get a ribeye that's not brown, doesn't smell like dog feet, and is cheaper than buying local, the residents aren't the reason why money is flowing out of town.

We collectively forgot that back when the US was developing into a strong nation, we had the most exports because we were the world's China back then. Our products were cheap and plentiful and good enough because our cost of living was low, the wages reflected that, and ultimately it made our products cheaper than what more developed countries could match. Switzerland made the best quality clocks, but we made them cheaper and usually with acceptable quality. Germany made the most precision machinery, but ours was okay and half the price. Italy made meatballs and olive oil? I dunno, maybe that wasn't a good example. Anyway, now that our cost of living and wages are way higher, we're in the same position as those more developed countries like Switzerland and Germany were, importing products that we could never hope to make with the same price point from another country. Buying US is not going to change how that will inevitably play out, but if US companies were fair with their pricing they'd be far less affected by Chinese imports. All of that to say, unless these Chinese bushings are total trash, BB probably needs to get with the times and drop the price to something reasonable since they're no longer the only game in town.

ICYMI there is a searchable known patent on tie rod braces

I found nothing on the busing.

I would think of there was a patent c&d should be quick?

I understand that 74Weld is selling their own steering rack solution, and an expensive one at that. In one of their videos they state that adding the bushings are not recommended as the ends of the rack may be out of concentricity. They measured this on a Hoss 3.0 rack. They say the stock bearing is adjustable and putting tight bushings in will force the rack into a shape it doesn't want to be in, therefore placing stress on the rack. While talking about this he does mention placing bushings on both ends. Perhaps just one bushing as with the BB kit is preferable? Would this still allow some necessary adjustability within the rack? This is above my knowledge and experience level. Does anybody else have ideas on this?

I'm not sure if the BB bushing differentiates itself enough from a regular bushing design enough to be a patentable concept, but you never know.

I don't remember exactly how they worded it, but I thought that comment was geared more toward using a metal bushing in the OEM rack as opposed to a poly/delrin bushing. I don't think the slight misalignment from a non-concentric delrin bushing is going to be stressing the housing all that much, as you're naturally going to get some deflection and misalignment in the rack when you start putting torque on it from the pinion or loading up one tire more than the other. Probably more misalignment from normal use than what the housing tolerance gives you, at any rate.

My sister in law does patent work for tech companies, its a long expensive process that nets next to nothing in the end.

Weld74 got rid of the take up bushing so they have to hold a higher tolerance. Its a whole different concept from stock. Weld74 is banking on not letting any movement occur to keep the internals lined up perfectly for max strength. Factory is like jello, if it wiggles it doesn't break till the glass bowl flies off the counter.

May the Lord have mercy on those people who buy from CJ. It's not if CJ will screw you... it's when.
You are being to nice! They literally will send you the wrong part, pretend you ordered that part and charge you a restocking fee. Absolute mistake to even look at there site...
