When I hear first edition I think about all the early gremlins and lack of improvements in later built cars. I would only pay less, not more, for a first edition car.

Imagine how many gremlins the first prototype Mustang or Corvette had and how much that would bring on the market right now. Then imagine it with the first 10 production vehicles. First editions were intended to be the same concept to a lesser degree, though the reality is that they're more like the collectible 1911's you see in the back of a gun magazine that commemorate some obscure thing. They rarely exceed their own price tag, especially if you use them.

Not less than "the real thing", but much less capable. Let's face it, most men buying these trucks are doing so to display their masculinity as they deliver the kids to soccer practice, not to take them offroad or use them as actual trucks. And their accessories show that.

I can't speak to what is in anybody's heart when they buy a Bronco but I will agree that the vast majority will never leave the pavement and the accessories added to some would make that almost impossible.

Article doesn't really say a lot and even if it did who knows what the future brings for anything automotive. But, with that said I will say when you make 7000 of anything that just ain't very rare in my opinion.
