When I ordered my Bronco, one of my concerns was transporting my mountain bike. I would go with a hitch receiver, but I wanted to secure my bike inside the vehicle for the peace of mind. Didn’t see any answers about if a mountain bike could fit inside the 2 door so I decided to try it out.

Saw a different thread use Velcro straps on the tie down points to hold their bike in their 4 door bronco so I purchased them to hold the fork down. The bike fits perfectly with the front wheel off and with the rear wheel sitting just on the end of the center console. (I was still able to open the center console 2/3 of the way up before the rear wheel stops it). When you close the rear window, the mtb stem has about 1/4inch of space, so I shoved a piece of styrofoam in between the space to prevent any metal to glass touching.

I ride a medium size bike, so I’m assuming larger bikes would mean the rear wheel would be further up on the center console.

That’s bad ass! Especially cause you don’t have to put down the rear seats. 🔥

This was just getting it home from storage with no planning at all. It was only a 2 mile drive home. :) Early 2005 26" wheel Mongoose MTB. It's had some TLC since then. New tires, new cables, good cleaning and lubing, etc.
It's now carried on a Saris MHS tray carrier with swing away. Love the carrier, their customer support has been non-existent so far.

Thanks for this post - this is one determining factor on if I take delivery of my 2 door. I have a JLUR now, and a Large 29'er. I have three types of trips that I use the JL for now:

1. Surf trips (no issue with 2 door - camping stuff goes inside, boards on top).
2. Hiking/off-roading with wife - still no issues with 2 door except sleeping outside in tent instead of in Jeep.
3. MTN Bike by myself - as long as a bike, Yeti, Gazelle tent and container with cooking/sleeping stuff fits, good to go.

I'm thinking it would, so.....now it's just wait and see when it gets built and if I want to switch.

So just to confirm, a large 29er will fit with the front wheel off in the 2 door?

Same here.. When I first ordered the Bronco, I was concerned about if my MTB could fit in the back. A hitch wouldn't be bad either, but my friends always want to eat or drink after a long ride so I get paranoid leaving it out in the open haha. But that's awesome to hear all the adventuring you do and your Bronco will do all those! Hope your build comes soon.

Yes it will fit. I ride a Medium All-mountain/Enduro bike so it does have a longer wheel base. A large would fit, it would just reach a bit further back onto the center console. Height is fine as long as your dropper/ seat post is at its lowest point.

This is bronco sport but it had no problems fitting a full sized mtb in the back. I asked if Ford was planning anything for the full sized bronco but the staff was mum.

Thanks! I thought it would be too much bike here, but then we opened up a mountain bike park 30 miles from where I live so it's been wonders!

Gonna be my summer project this year. Want to add a storage floor like this and drill a thru axle base on the front so I can also mount my bike like how you have it in the sport and have storage on the bottom for equipment!

Worried about this for awhile, but it fits 2 ways - if the wife is in the car, I can put it diagonally, if not I can just push the passenger seat forward and load. For reference that's a Large 29'er with the dropper post down. It's not the most graceful thing so I see a 1UP rack in my future.

Nice setup. I haven’t tried in my two door but was able to get two bikes into my X3 with a similar setup. I used this t channel part from 8020.net attached to the floor rails but you could easily remove the rear rings and run a knob bolt to attach to the floor and a fork mount attached to the t channel.

In the JL I use the tie downs with a surf ratchet strap weaved through the fork, works pretty well. I may have to adapt it a bit for this at least in the short term.
