In my neck of the woods in rural Missouri, we wave at everybody. It's just what we do around here. It's about being friendly and respectful to one another. If you don't wave back, you just prove yourself to be a prude and this:

I have a forester, I LOVE waving at sti and wrx drivers . I mean, basically the same, no?

Yup, whenever I’m up north everyone gets a wave.

I think in our state, it is an unwritten rule that ALL motorists wave to each other when you are on dirt. Especially above 7,000 ft.

Doesn't matter: Jeeps, pick-ups, motorcycles, side-by-sides, quads, old Broncos, new Kias, EVERYBODY gets a wave.
