Anyone else considering trading for the next-gen 4Runner?

Interesting response. Here is my counter......

Removable doors is stupid. Too much work and everyone just drops them and fucks them up anyway.

Removable roof.........again, cool concept, but stupid. Wish Ford would have provided an option for a full/true roof that wasn't removable.

Wish Ford had the track record of quality that Toyota has. I'd be happy to have something built in Japan that has the track record of initial and longevity in their quality as Toyota and the 4runner has. Then again, maybe I am not a worthy "Made in 'Merica" patriot to have such and attitude.

I had two early broncos.....a '71 and a '77.......never took the tops off and never took the doors off. More work in my opinion than it is worth.......those features also give way to squeaks, leaks, road noise, etc. and I am sure over time those will just get worse. We are already seeing tons of complaints about many of these things. In the spirit of the heritage and retro inspiring, I am OK with that and accept those features even though I will not use them other than taking off the "T-Top" panels of my roof.

I am not even thinking of trading away my Bronco, but 4runner was my runner up to my final decision when I reserved a Bronco in July, 2020.

agree have a third gen 4runner, waiting for a 6th gen, the roll down power rear window is a nice compromise, and probably need 4 doors. If I was a two door bronco buyer, than no.

Why, are you afraid of competition?

The Bronco is not a one size fits all, do you think Ford would have brought some of the innovations to the F-150 were it not for the Chevrolet and Ram competition?

Or is it demotivating to have both the 6th Gen 4Runner and the new smaller Land Cruiser, aimed to compete with the Bronco and Wrangler, on the horizon along with their potentially better quality?

Yes, I understand that there is no one size fits all vehicle, which is why there is more than one vehicle available on planet Earth. I also understand that competition breeds improvements.

I'm on hold for the Bronco until the Mod Top is available on the Badlands and the Quality improves or Toyota comes through. I'm not brand loyal, vehicles are a tool, pick the one that best suits your needs.

It appears that @North7 isn't sure what Bronco he has, or wants to get.

Because Ford did away with the Badlands and White Mod Top, so we have to see what the model bingo brings, perhaps a Heritage, if they equip it similar to the Badlands.

I drove the 87 Land Cruiser until the frame rusted through. Toyota learned that they need to do a better job in regards to frames rusting. Replaced it with the 93 Land Cruiser that has over 300K miles on the drivetrain.

I don't think my Bronco drivetrain will last 300K miles.

I've had my Bronco now for 8 months. After assessing what I want out of a vehicle and what I actually use it for, the 4Runner looks like an appealing alternative should I decide to sell the Bronco in the future. Is anyone else considering trading their Bronco for the next-gen 4Runner, whenever it comes out?

I bought a Third-Gen 4-Runner when they came out and owned if for 7 years. Never had any issues and it took a beating. I bought it after owning 2 new Defender 90's. The Defenders were super cool, but hard to live with day to day.

Off-Road vehicles Bought New:
92 Wrangler 2Dr
93 Wrangler 2Dr Rubicon - First Gen Rubicon and first person at my dealer to get one.
94 Defender 90 - softtop, manual, first year sold in U.S.
95 Defender 90 - hardtop, auto
96 4-Runner - third gen
06 Wrangler 4Dr Rubicon
12 Wrangler 4Dr Rubicon
21 4Dr Base Bronco - 2.7L Sasquatch hardtop

I love the Bronco, but am very interested to see the new 4-Runner. If Toyota does a nice re-fresh with more power, better mpg and some cool off-road kit I'd absolutely consider the switch.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the new Land Cruiser, sounds like it may possibly be an FJ Cruiser 2.0 with lessons learned and improvements built in.

Same here, though I can say it's been a fun ride so far and I haven't had any issues with mine. I'm still interested in what Toyota is going deliver with the new 4Runner.
