Drove a Raptor today!

I have driven a 2-door 2.3 around 30 miles, it was his mannequin. I have driven 50 miles or so a friends 4-door Badlands, 2.7. Now my Raptor, and it has quite a bit more power than either of those. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it rides. Sport reduces braking dive and body roll. I have programed my R to be sport steering, sport suspension and sport exhaust, and Auto Start off. Don't have the transmission in sport as for day to day driving, holds the gears to long.

The 2.3 is quite impressive for being so small. I may be looking at this wrong but I was expecting the difference like from a v6 mustang to a Roush V8 mustang. And it just wasn’t that. Still impressive but not the night and day I was expecting. Maybe it’s my expectations.

Put that 2.3L in a Raptor and you’d be far, far less impressed with the 2.3L. You’re comparing apples to watermelons.

Raptor curb weight is probably 700+ lbs greater than a 4Dr. Big Bend. And spinning up those 37”s and other unsprung mass is a chore on top of that.

It’s going to be a sad day when we start seeing folks figure out the hard way that their biggest concern isn’t how fast it accelerates, but how slow it decelerates.

It accelerates plenty fast for a 4x4 on 37" tires, I'm more than happy with that. Stopping on the other hand, I would like a bit more stopping power.

I don’t know the market in TX, but in most places it seems doubtful of getting $10K-15K over on a used Big Bend anymore.

I think your comments on the economy are accurate. Interest rates are way up (30 year mortgages are 7.32%), fuel/energy/food prices are way up, and the fed is still looking to raise rates farther. People are starting to figure out that a storm is coming so it’s time to throttle back the spending. The Braptor market won’t fall because of scarcity, but the rest of the auto market is poised for a fall once inventory returns to 2019 levels. Used cars values have been falling 3% per month all this year.

Not a big difference in 35’s and 37’s. And my 2.3 pulls 35’s surprisingly well. Double the HP should do more for 700lbs and 2” on tire. What’s the issue with brakes?

That’s just ignorant. This applies to poor people problems not rich. Anyone spending 90-120k on a toy is in the same boat.

I think your dead on. People are still going 5-10 over on any model because they are hard to get still. But that’s changing daily.

Your corvette or my AMG GTS stop 60-0 in mid low 90’ range, the Braptor is 160’ per Motor Trend. Even my Tacoma will stop in 122’.

A fully loaded Braptor moving at speed is going to be an emergency braking adventure. I may pack a spare pair of clean undies in my tool kit

Ignorant. LOL OK. You're talking about your F-250 Platinum, 850hp Camaro, Land Rover, etc. And then talking about dropping that much on a Raptor with ADM to flip already having a Bronco. Yeah that's rich guy problems. Nothing against you and if you were offended sorry. Good for you if you can do it. But I drive a Black Diamond and it's my daily driver. I don't have expendable income to have multiple four wheel toys or to drop that much coin just to make a profit. So "I" can't relate. That's all I was saying.
