So, full disclosure here. I used to run the sheet out of my 4x4's when I was younger. Got tired of cleaning and fixing stuff so now I drive bass ad road queens lol. So this may not be a completely fair review becuase I am not out running Baja or rock climbing. But here goes anyway. I am on my second Bronco, and I will say I have LOVED the two I have and had. 1st was a base soft top I lifted 4.5" on 35's and it looked great, just didn't like the cabin noise. So when Big Bend hard top showed up my sales guy called me and I purchased it. It's the one in my profile pic, and with the same lift and running boards I did on my soft top, plus leather seats, I am really happy with this one. I have had a Wildtrack on order for over a year now and was able to convert that into a Raptor order, and last week got good and bad news. Good news is it's scheduled for production first week of January, bad news is the dealership who had not done over MSRP, now is.. So it will cost me 10K over the 82 sticker. Which shouldn't be too bad as long as I get 10-15 over msrp on the Big Bend I have now.

So like most of us I assume, I had not laid eyes on one until today. Boerne Dodge has a one just like I ordered with a few minor differences that I found today. I went to see it, honestly not thinking I would get to drive it, which to my shock they offered me an extended test drive to take it 30 miles home and return it tomorrow. Very surprised at that, BUT, they have it at 120K and have had it for two weeks, so sounds as if they are getting a bit desperate. The main difference from my order is the carbon package on it that I did not order. I was going back and forth over it but couldn't justify the 1800.00 premium for it, and after seeing it in person I am now glad I didn't do it. It honestly looks like plastic, NOT the BANG you would expect for 1800.00

Doing the walk around, the outside is definitely beefier and tougher to look at. This one, like the one I ordered is black on black, and at first order I had Cactus Grey (the color of ours now), but wasn't a fan of the overly huge fender flares, so I figured black on black wouldn't make them stick out as much, and I think I was right on that.. The black on black looks really tough. Not a fan of the aluminum skid plate in the front, but that would be an easy paint if it bugs me too much. So I was happy with the outside for sure.

Moving to the inside... This one had the marine vinyl seats, which means no power seats. I know, it's a Bronco... Why do you need power... Well for me this is simple. At 92k, or 120K, I WANT EVERYTHING.lol. I am 6'2" and my wife is 5'8", so switching back forth, which we do daily, is a pain in the ass. With these seats there was also no Code Orange accents on the seats, so the Code Orange accents that are there were not as.... THE POP as I expected. My order does have the upgraded seats, so hopefully it will satisfy more. I will say the seats were VERY comfortable. Aside from that, and few more buttons on the wheel, and a instrument cluster I did not have time to mess with, it was not much different than my current (My current one has the small screen, but my F250 Plat has the large one so it was really no WOW factor in the difference) But just sitting in the parking lot with it running, I didn't get much of any difference in feel from mine now.

Driving. Again, I was a bit surprised at them allowing me to drive it, but I am glad I did. Mine now has the 2.3, as did my base, and on 35's it's no slouch. I was expecting this one to be VERY noticeably different in power. And while I could notice a difference, it was not show stopping. Again, I am not expecting to run it in the 1/4 mile, but I was expecting to feel the HP and Torque difference to be more. And to be fair, it was a trip a few miles up and down the highway. The sound was pretty disappointing. Had a Raptor F150 a while back and the wife hated it because it was so loud. Yes I understand V8 vs V6 sound, but this wasn't even as deep as the F150 normal eco. Also, the 4 different sound modes are kinda a joke. At idle and small rev, I could tell ZERO difference. Hitting it to get on the highway there is a difference, but not much. Again, I got ZERO into the offroad capabilities, which I know this is what it's made for, but lets be honest. 90% of these will be daily drivers, and road queens.

SO, I know this was long, but here is my overall take. At MSRP, I would have ZERO problem spending the 10-15K over a wildtrack, just to have the bad boy. No way in HELL I would spend 90-120K on it UNLESS I knew for damn sure the value would stay up there, but I am not thinking this will be the case. I think they will stay around the MSRP even a few years old, but I am not sure once the lag in production catches up will they bring anything over MSRP. Obviously none of us know this, but it's where my gut stands.

So my plan... In the last month I saw them at 150K, and I saw one as low as 105 the other day. I am not sure if this is because the economy is junk, or people like me are seeing them and deciding to pass. But when mine comes in, if they are still asking 10K over, AND they are still in the 110-120 range on the market, I will purchase, and likely sell or trade to get some of my money back from my current Bronco. If they are not still at 105-110 at least, I will definitely NOT pay over MSRP, and honestly likely just keep mine.

For anyone just getting into this. UNLESS you are a BIG offroader and plan on being in the desert or rocks I would order a base, put your own lift (Which looks better than the sasquache package and MUCH cheaper), Upgrade the areas you want, spend 5500.00 on a 4.5" lift, 5 wheels and tires, running board, and just enjoy it!!

Sorry so long :) Thanks for hanging in there !

Intersting observations. I have a very different impression than you at least when it comes to the vehicle's difference between a standard Bronco. You make some good points about financial/market observation. Anyway my 2 cents below.

I only have 700 miles on my Braptor. I went from a Loaded 2.7 Badlands to a Braptor loaded with every option except the upgraded rims and decals. First thing I noticed the larger turbo's and huge increase in boost. Yes it still is a V-6, but has huge torque and power gains. Vehical is just overall more planted on the road and the Fox live valves are crazy good. In normal mode they are more plush than My GL63 AMG that has air suspension. In off-load mode, they fell like the King 2.5's on my 2022 BL. The seats are way better. I found the Bronco seats a little short under my knees and I have no complaints about the Braptor seats (leather). The entire vehicle just feels more solid and capable/sporty. Carbon fiber steering wheel and small accents are not cheap, but IMHO just make the interior pop along with the wrapped dash. Yes I wish Ford gave you more for $1700, but they also charge 1k for the decal package.

On switchback mountain roads up to the mountains, the Braptor handled the turns so much more predictable with less body flex and roll than my BL with 4k King Shocks. I Have not gone on an off-road desert run yet. After my 1k break in period I will have a better overall impression. But on road alone I would say the vehicle is a major upgrade from a loaded Bronco WT or Badlands for the performance minded driver. It is very hard to aftermarket your Bronco to the level of a BRaptor.
I totally agree that the Bronco itself is very capable and was one of my favorite vehicles.

The Braptor is just engineered at such a high level from Ford Performance, that I find it truly special. In terms of cost that is really a personal decision. When you consider a loaded Cadillac Escalade Platinum costs over 125k MSRP, the MSRP for the Braptor at an average of 80k seems like you get a lot for the money. ADM is a whole separate discussion. But that has been the case with the F150 Raptor also. You just have to hunt for the right dealer and be willing to wait.

I have and loaded WT and just received my loaded Braptor and I have to say the biggest surprise for me was how much better the Braptor handles on the road. I thought the WT was very good but the Braptor is noticeably better especially at absorbing bumps without the harshness sometimes felt in the WT. Even with a reasonable ADM I think you get a lot for your money for both but when you see everything that is upgraded on the Braptor it makes it feel more than worth it. BTW one just like mine went for $119k on BAT yesterday and IMO that is about the current market for a loaded Braptor.

Thats VERY fair, and may change my opinion once I get to play with it more. Hard to do a lot on a 10 min spin. I think the sticker just has me bewildered. It wasn't so much the lack of carbon fober, although they could have done more, it was the carbon fiber itself. My 850HP RWHP ZL1 camaro had carbon everhwere and it just looked more like carbon fiber vs plastic that looked like carbon fiber. Maybe my history in sportscars limits my ability to appreciate the difference in the power too lol.

I guess for me and the wife, coming from a range rover to a Raptor, for the same money I would love to have a unique vehicle also capable of an date night or cross country trip. We did the Bronco 4 hours and that was about he max I'd want to spend in it. Ideally I would have both, but that's not in my budget lol. 100K for a toy is already pushing it lol

Suspension and 37's on 17" tires play a huge role in that, equally. They have sat on this one two weeks. Curiouse what the market them does. If you guys don't mind me asking, what did you give ADM on yours?

The 2.3 is quite impressive for being so small. I may be looking at this wrong but I was expecting the difference like from a v6 mustang to a Roush V8 mustang. And it just wasn’t that. Still impressive but not the night and day I was expecting. Maybe it’s my expectations.

I had a WT and the wife has an OBX 2.3. We were out on thanksgiving and she needed to run to the store and took my Braptor. First thing she said when she got back was “damn this thing has power”. Just stating that to say I’m really surprised you felt there wasn’t much of a difference in power. I will say that she only uses regular and has 33.5’s with 3.73 gears. I guess it my also depend on the hearing of your 2.3 but I’m still a bit surprised as I definitely felt a difference from my WT in which I only ran premium fuel.

Same, I sold my Tesla Model S Plaid at the peak of the used car market. The speed of that vehicle basically ruined every future vehicle for me from a power perspective. I made some passengers damn near cry on 1/4 mile pulls 😂

Mine wouldn’t stick, but I scared my passengers going 80 sideways lol. Different topic but new cars don’t let you really drive it for what’s it’s got lol. I like to turn all the bullshit traction control off
