I’m not even at 1,000 miles on my 2022 Badlands. I have been staying further back from other vehicles on the road because I have heard of the problems with the windshield on the Broncos. I recently heard an impact but didn’t see any pits immediately. I noticed yesterday that the impact left an almost unobservable pit just below the wiper on the passenger side. That has now caused a crack to grow vertically.
seriously, I get that these windshields are pretty upright, but I am at 10 years of highway driving on my other vehicle with the original glass with not a single chip or crack.
Chime in if you’re frustrated about the quality of the glass in the Bronco too.

I dont know if it is possible, but I am going to look into some form of glass upgrade when I take it in for the windshield recall.

Jeep offers Corning Gorilla Glass windshields from the factory for a small premium. Ford should have as well. Hopefully an option becomes available soon. I've heard the Safelite replacements are worse than factory.

It's just a function of the shape. I've had 3 Wranglers and damn near every impact resulted in a chip or crack. For the short time I had a car while waiting on my Bronco, I had a couple of impacts with no damage. My 2016 Jeep had 8 chips at one point - the 9th one immediately ran upon impact, so I finally got my windshield replaced. Within a week, a car going the opposite direction on a 2 lane road somehow kicked up a big rock that put a huge chip right above my line of sight.

This is not a quality of glass issue but a shape of vehicle issue. More upright windshields will have a greater impact percentage than raked windshields.
I have just under 6,000 miles on mine but I put a Ford hood protector (with raised lip) the day I got my Bronco to help deflect lighter objects.
I usually have to replace a windshield every 3 years on my other vehicles (which have more rake).

I understand it is the angle of the windshield that is the issue. I was simply saying that if I have to take my rig in for a recall on the windshield, I might as well see if I can pay a slight fee to get a more durable glass.

I will be when I get this one replaced. I don’t want to be doing this constantly.

I am using ExoShield and it has saved me about a 1/2 dozen times in 5 months. I actually watched one rock impact and it did not chip or crack the glass.

Living in Colorado, taking a rock to the windshield is only a matter of time. My 2003 Discovery must have had bulletproof glass. The biggest impact I took after 6 years of ownership left a pit with no cracking. The first (within a week of purchase) tiny rock I took in a 2020 F-150 chipped and cracked my windshield. I am deathly afraid of what will inevitably happen to the Bronco. They just don't make em like they used to.

We too got a chip within 1000 miles and questioned the quality of the factory glass. That was until we had a car hit and flip a portion of a trailer sway controller into our windshield while driving on I-10. The car passed us in left lane going about 90 and we were doing about 80 mph , it just hit the A puller and came to rest on the dash just as pictured. The fact that Ford could engineer this glass to stop a 7 lb price of metal from cleanly penetrating the glass and decapitating my wife in the passenger seat is truly amazing and I will trade fixing chips all day long for this amount of safety .
