My plan is to replace my 2017 Jeep Rubicon with a fully loaded BadSquatch or FE (depending on the pricing, fugly blue interior etc.). I will probably stick with the 35s and get a roof top tent and rigid LED lights.

I plan to use it as a daily driver (less than 10 miles a day, school pick up, grocery shopping etc.) and off-roading, camping etc. during the weekend. I have owned Rubicons since 2013 and have been on several trails all around CO and planning to do more in the Bronco similar below.

Imogene Pass

I’m getting a 2 door badlands with all the off road options available. I will be hitting the old mining passes near Silverton and Ouray Colorado. If I pick up a stripe or two on Black Bear or Poughkeepsie Gulch, I am perfectly fine with that!

It's definitely gonna be my daily, and maybe I'll even deign to take it over a few curbs at the local shopping mall!

I do actually want to get into some mild off-roading though.

Mine will be my DD and will see some pretty rough Colorado trails. I use my 4Runner to haul my wife and our daughters on hiking and camping adventures. Out here the best hiking and camping is above tree line (11.5k'). If I start my kids hiking at typical trailhead they will be out of gas by the time we get to the good stuff so I take them to spots where there is a forest service trail that gets us started much higher. These roads are rough but you will at times find stock SUVs, Subarus and the occasional Camry sitting at the top. It is also common to see these vehicles leaving behind trails of oil dripping out of a smashed pan as they go! In short mine will get used off road a lot, pinstriped as heck by the end of its first summer with us, and we will have a blast making memories!

I'm going for the badlands with 35"s... why? I will use this car like my Jeep Rubicon, daily short commute to work (like 6-8K miles a year) and for 2-3 special trips a year and during those trips I want it to perform and take me places a normal SUV can't go. We go to Moab, Canyonlands and plan on a few northern Lake Superior and island trips, and frankly the stock Rubicon limited us mainly in clearance and of course seriously sucks on long distance highway trips... as will the Bronco likely, but the IFS might make a difference.

So I will off road the shit out of it about 3 times a year, the rest of the time I'm just driving to work. I can tolerate scratching bumpers and rockers, but I'll avoid the body panel smashing stuff.

We are planning on a super light go fast camper RTT and a small fridge in the back and seriously getting LOST. We do this in the PowerWagon-FourWheel Camper now but even with all that flex and power, the size and the weight of the rig are prohibited especially with out larger tires.

Getting a 2dr. 70% road driving, 20% mid-level risk offroad and 10% attempting more extreme offroading. That's about how we use our JLU.

I like this thread. Mine will likely be 2-door BD with a 7-speed. I love the idea of 3 season driving around with no doors or top in a manual. If it’s going to rain, I’ll take another vehicle. I want the BD because I intend to go to some of the PA off-road parks, but I won’t be doing extreme crawling. Likely the easy to moderate trails. The Bronco will be perfect for me because I am not willing to compromise on on-road driveability for a little bit of extra articulation in the front that I’ll likely never use. I have an old CJ for that. Honestly, I probably don’t even need the BD off-road bits, but I want a color that isn’t available below that level (and rear locker and skid plates are nice).

I drive a train at a plant for a living so instead of rock crawling I’ll be rail crawling over the train tracks with it. Also there is a enormous field next door some of it with water and mud so I’m definitely going to be driving through it all.

This a fun one to hear everyone's responses too, and really badly makes me want to explore more off roading.

There's probably a better thread for this, but as a complete noob, how do you guys find these trails/old logging roads, etc.? Also I'm in Illinois right near Indiana, so if anyone has trail recommendations in the area I'll be very curious and start compiling a list!

My Bronco will be my daily driver and workhorse. To and from work, pulling one of 3 small trailers every weekend. Driving around my property. Vacations, hunting, fishing spots etc. A 4x4 (or even a locker 4x2) truck would suffice but the bronco is a sporty alternative with no doors, no roof and a manual Ecoboost. I’d like mine with the vinyl interior so my water skis don’t make a mess of it.

I have no knowledge of your area but most of the trails around me are WMAs. Some require you to have a “lands pass” to sightsee or hike but some don’t require anything to drive through.
