I'd agree, but the black is a high gloss shadow black.

I want black molded in color, not painted black.
keeping black plastic looking black is a nightmare. I feel like I go through more of that meguars ultimate black more than any other cleaner

What gets me and maybe I'm just lost is 4door has to come with a top? Right?

So how in the world are they adding $3000 for it. Soft top should be part of the base Badlands price of $44,590.

Badlands

2.3L EcoBoost 10 Speed Auto - $1,600
2.7L EcoBoost 10 Speed Auto - $3,500
Mid Package - $1500
High Package - $2,700
Lux Package - $5000
Sasquatch Package - $2,500
Hard Top Molded in Carbonized Grey - $700
Hard Top Molded in Shadow Black With Removable Glass - $1,900
Hard Top Molded in Carbonized Grey with Soft Top - $3,700
Towing Package with 2" receiver - $600
Roof Rack with Rails and Crossbars- $400
I've got a couple of thoughts. It's a total mistake. Ford threw it in there to get a reaction.

I like the gray hardtop - fine with the color. I wouldn't care for gloss black. Maybe more of a semi/flat black hardtop as on my Jeep would be ok. White looks cool, and while I wouldn't go that route, hoping Ford offers white because I'd like to see those driving around. Kind of a classic style.
I like the gray as well. I think it looks great, and differentiates it from the jeeps out there. The BB has a gray grill, will likely look great together.

I'm OK with grey....but whether its grey, pink, or chartreuse, the top, mirrors, handles, grill, & flares should coordinate. Having a grey top contrast with other black trim pieces kinda precludes adding an accent strips or anything else.

And it just makes it seem Ford is staffed with blind people.

My take on painted tops. Painted to match looks the best. That said I would never do a painted top. Think of how carefully you will have to handle the top so it is not scratched. It makes removing, installing and storage a nightmare. A black/gray top if it gets scratched you can touch it up with a rattle can.

So far from what we know you're gonna have to go aftermarket for a soft top on the 2-door unless something changes.

These guys just bought this low mileage 1 owner Jeep and this is what the roof looks like. Not sure if this is the same material Bronco will have.

I say the $700 MIC-gray hardtop looks decent enough with Cactus, and most likely Area-51

Would likely get some matching gray Plastidip and coat the fender flares and front grill.

Just imagine if that was painted to match with a nice glossy finish. It would give me ulcers. lol

Just gonna go something like this a few years down the road after i've added some pinstriping to the paint job and scratched my Shadow Black top. Do the top, the grill, and the whole body in Line-X.

I'm not an expert here as I only detailed and restored cars for a decade, and that devolved into boutique detailing for select clients long ago (customers are the worst!)

But your problem is that you're using a garbage product and wondering why it doesn't work. At least you didn't say "Back to black", which is possibly the only shi%%&^# product you could possibly be using to restore or protect black plastics.

If you want to actually re-finish black plastics, may I suggest Solution Finish. This stuff actually penetrates the plastic and will restore it's color. I've even used this without any surface prep work on a neighbor's stupid JEEP with fender plastics that had turned to a white powder appearance. Penetrated perfectly on the first pass and they still look good 5 years later.

I have been quite upset about the only hard top on the 2-doors being grey. So if I have to get stuck with that then i'll be trying the new Solution Finish for grey plastics.

Also, using a UV protectant such as 303 aerospace protectant will go a long way in preventing the fading from starting.

FYI: The small, $15 bottle of Solution Finish Black should be enough to do about 20 Jeeps, restoring every single piece of faded black plastic and fender on every single one of them. That stuff just keeps spreading like a champ!
